FOLKS give Energy to Lovers Key
Thank you for helping us to help the park!

FOLKS recently donated funds to Lovers Key State Park to purchase 14 deep cell golf cart batteries and a riding mower clutch. These much needed items were requested by Assistant Park Manager Matt Kruse. This is just one example of how your donations and membership dues help FOLKS to help Lovers Key remain one of the most beautiful and well maintained parks in Florida.

Songwriters at Sunset Second Season

If you have not yet experienced this popular event, you just might want to give it a try this month. The musicians share their original music in the intimate style of Nashville's acclaimed Bluebird Cafe. The January 5 show features Alan Bradford, Dave Clayton, and Bill Veach.

Alan Bradford is a unique guitar player and an old soul singer/songwriter- a musician who can deliver hours of covers, as well as great original songs. He’s toured with many professionals including Harry Chapin and James Taylor.

Dave Clayton had a “hot” folk-singing trio back in his Philadelphia high school in the 1960’s.  Dave eventually landed in Nashville, where he married before retiring to Florida, where he now continues writing and performing songs.

Bill Veach, a Fort Myers Beach resident, has a love of travel that is expressed in many of his songs. His songs are often autobiographical, about his experiences, travel, love, loss and some characters he has met on his journey.

All shows are on the first Thursday of each month and start 2 hours before sunset. Here are the dates and times:

Jan. 5    3:45pm     March 2  4:30pm
Feb. 2   4:00pm      April 6    5:30pm

Park entry fees are $8.00 for vehicles with 2-8 people, $4.00 for single person in vehicle, and $2.00 for pedestrian/ bicyclist.

Join us for the FOLKS Annual Meeting
Shy Wolf Sanctuary presents

FOLKS Annual Meeting will be held at The Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club. (map) Please join us for a very interesting presentation from Shy Wolf Sanctuary, Education and Experience Center. Although this is a Members only event, please feel free to bring a friend. Refreshments will be provided.

Shy Wolf Sanctuary provides sanctuary and care for dozens of rescued wild and captive-bred exotic animals, specializing in wolves. Shy Wolf's education program informs the public about wolves’ role in natural ecosystems and promotes respect for all exotic animals. Thirty-plus active volunteers work with the animals and in the community.

Over 60 animals – wolves, wolf dogs, big cats, and more – are permanent residents at the 2.5 acre sanctuary in Naples. Because wolves and wolfdogs are generally considered unadoptable by domestic animal services, Shy Wolf Sanctuary is often their last hope. But some do find a family; every year Shy Wolf works with a network of organizations and rescuers to place wolfdogs in foster homes for eventual adoption.

Valentines Vow Renewal – Nautical Flea Market and Boat Show –  12th Turtle Trot

Mark your calendars for these crowd pleasing annual events!

Valentines Vow Renewal continues to celebrate with twice the fun on February 14. Each year dozens of couples come to Lovers Key State Park to renew vows and celebrate the moment on our beautiful beach. There are two ceremonies to choose from, Brunch at 10 AM or Lunch at 3 PM. This event is usually a sell-out: reserve your spot early!

The 2017 Annual Nautical Flea Market and Boat Show will take place Friday,  March 31 – Sunday, April 2. The Rotary Club of Bonita Springs and the Friends of Lovers Key work together to bring you this one-of-a-kind event.

FOLKS 12th Annual Turtle Trot 5K is scheduled for May 13, 2017. Participants run and walk the 5K trail course through a shady maritime hammock ecosystem on a hard-packed shell path.
