PAPER PEACE

Vivacity are offering 18–25 year old’s the opportunity to get involved in an exciting project Paper Peace. Paper Peace gives participants the power to use their voice and make change through creating an interactive public artwork with a commissioned artist of their choosing. Those involved will work as a group to research heritage archives, newspapers, historic photographs and publications to find out about peace builders in Peterborough over the last 100 years. The group will then use these resources to create a thought-provoking artwork which will be on shown in Peterborough and toured to Stoke-on-Trent, Dewsbury and Medway and Swale.

The benefits of taking part in Paper Peace:

- Have your work seen by 1000’s in 4 different cities

- Make your CV stand out from the crowd with a brilliant example of working with national arts organisations and charities

- Develop important skills such as: teamwork, communication, planning, managing and problem solving

- Meet other people your age and create a network of contacts for the future

- Take part in symposiums across the UK and work with arts and heritage professionals

- Receive a fee for your participation in the project

What is the duration of the project?

The project began in Sept 2018 with Robert Montgomery’s Peace Poem shown in each partnering city. Workshop sessions began in Feb 2019 and there are currently 5 Peterborough participants taking part in the project who have begun looking into historic peace building in Peterborough but there are still places available for 18-25’s to join!

The conception and development of the artwork will run from May – Sept 2019 and the artworks will be tested out in Oct 2019.

The final artworks will be on display in Oct, Nov and Dec and will be shown in Peterborough on 22 – 24 Nov 2019.

There will be an opportunity for participants to share what they have learnt through the project in Learning Labs in Dec 2019, after the final performance.
