Good afternoon <<First Name>>,

As a reminder, tomorrow night is our monthly membership meeting for March.  The last couple have gone a tad over and we're going to really try to keep these meetings to an hour.

Fish Fry in Imlay City  Last year a bunch of us went up to Imlay City to Knights of Columbus Council 4556 Our Lady Queen of Peace for their fabulous fish fry.  We're planning on going again this year.  Plan on being up there around 6 pm if you're interested.  Map here. 1405 N. Van Dyke Rd, Imlay City, MI 48444  Let's support our brother Knights.  More info/flyer here.

Membership Drive.  Word on the street is we did a pretty good job for our Membership Drive over the weekend.  We got several new Form 100's.  Do you know someone you'd like to see join us and be Knight? By all means, reach out to them.  If you know someone, offer to have them get on the list for these e-mails.  This is a good representation of the things we're doing.

Country Breakfast - Thanks to everyone that showed up and helped out.  We'll have a total at the meeting.  By all accounts, it was a big success.  All proceeds got to the IHM Sisters.

MI Drive (aka Palm Sunday Intellectual Disabilities Drive) is set for Palm Sunday weekend, April 9th.  Mark DiPaolo is running this event this year.  He assures me he has several non-life threatening locations to choose from this time.  No really!  He's looking for a couple more guys to help.  If you can jump in even for a couple hours, that'll ensure this important cause is a big success.  Give Mark a call at 586-292-5284 if you can help.

Get on the BUS!  Joe Suminski is heading up the Casino Bus Trip April 23 - 25.  Here's a link to the flyer - here.  Please call Joe if you have a burning desire to have a great time.  Joe's at 586-337-5776

Where is our Calendar? As you may have figured out, we're not doing the calendar like we used to, on the side bar.  I've put the calendar in a spreadsheet and converted it into web page that anyone can download and refer to.  The most up to date calendar is always here.  The icon for the calendar in the right sidebar will take you to the calendar.  It's in the same place as the old calendar used to be.

The Council Directory, is the next project I'm going to work on.  If you do not want your info included, please let me know.  The distribution will be ONLY to the membership.  I will not post on social media.  If you're ok with the level of info in the church directory, this is basically the same info.  I'll get it set up and can then maintain it like I do with the calendar.

Please make an effort to show up for the meeting tomorrow.  There's always lots to do. We can honestly use the hearts and talents of each of you.  Don't be shy.  Come on down!

Until next time, Vivat Jesus

Have you seen this site yet? St Clement has purchased this awesome resource for you.  There's programs, books, audios and videos.  It's actually pretty amazing.  Check it out, it's worth your time.

LAWS and RULES of the ORDER

The laws and rules of our Order, as well as state (provincial) laws, specify that the Knights of Columbus may accept insurance applications only from Knights of Columbus members. As a member, you may apply for insurance on yourself, your wife and your dependent, minor children.

The Order’s Board of Directors has taken action, though, to assure that a brother Knight’s widow maintains the right to purchase additional insurance for a limited time. This can be of great benefit and comfort to those we leave behind.

This “right to apply” is available only to the widows of insured members. If a member has not availed himself of our top-rated life insurance program, or purchased an annuity or long-term care policy, Disability Insurance, this benefit is not available to his widow.

But if the member was an insured member, his widow has the right to apply for additional insurance on her life and on the lives of the member’s minor children. This right can be exercised for up to one year following the Order’s receipt of proof of the insured’s death.

Know two things. First, I’ll assist your widow and children in any way possible if you should die, both with your Knights of Columbus insurance and any other life insurance you may have.

Second, I’ll provide them my best professional advice and service, to assure that they continue to have adequate insurance protection.

As a professional agent and a brother Knight, I have no greater responsibility.

KNIGHTS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO SAY THE FOLLOWING PRAYER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, BEGINNING WITH AN ORDERWIDE NOVENA MARCH 12-20.

A NOVENA OF GRACE AND SOLIDARITY

God our Father, as St. Francis Xavier and countless of your missionaries traveled to the ends of the earth, impelled by the love of Jesus Christ, give me the grace to rely entirely on you, confident in the knowledge that you raise up the humble and the lowly. May I be united with your saints in offering you my humble tribute of thanksgiving and praise. I implore you to grant me, through your mercy, the blessing of living and dying in a state of grace. I also ask this same blessing for all those throughout the world who suffer persecution because of their faith in you. O God, you were pleased to gather to your Church the peoples of the world by the preaching and miracles of all your saints; mercifully grant that I may imitate their virtues and so bear witness to the Gospel of your Son, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Supporting our wounded soldiers

While serving his fifth combat tour, U.S. Army Captain Luis Avila was hit with an explosive device. After five years of challenges, Captain Avila continues his recovery at his new smart home, which he received from the K of C partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation. Check out this video for details about his new home.

Military personnel like Captain Avila need our continued help. More importantly, they need our prayers and spiritual encouragement.

Please help us provide this encouragement by supporting the 2017 Warriors to Lourdes Pilgrimage, co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Archdiocese for the Military Services, U.S.A. The pilgrimage offers soldiers like Captain Avila — who is a two-time participant in the Warriors to Lourdes Pilgrimage — an opportunity for renewal and healing.

<<First Name>> our next meeting is March 16th

We strive to do good works in our Parish and Community.  Please turn up for a meeting.  Nothing happens until you're sitting in a chair.  Looking to make a difference? Come and claim your chair.  Want to grow in your faith? Your chair is waiting.  Want to find a new friend?  We have chairs for that too!

<<First Name>> “you are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." -- Matthew 5:14-16
