Knight of the Month

Charter Presentation SS John and Paul

It was a red letter day today at SS John and Paul.  The hard work of many people at the new Council and the State lead to the state's newest Knights of Columbus Council. Congratulations to everyone who made this new council a reality.

Council Picnic

Did you get a postcard in the mail last week?  You're welcome! Remember how fun it was last year.  This year will be even better.  I hope you'll join us in 2 weeks on August 20th.  The Knights will supply the burgers, hot dogs, pop and maybe even a couple beers.  If you’d help us out with a dish to pass that would be fantastic.   If your last name is

A to M – a side dish
N to Z – dessert

Please bring your family and join us for an afternoon of fellowship, fun and activities.   This is a chance for us to spend time together in community.

Monthly Update
To date, you and people all across the country have pledged a total of 5,916,520 Rosaries for America! It's overwhelming. But what's more overwhelming is the incredible healing, hope, and transformation your prayers can bring to your life and the lives of others. Continue to pray the Rosary and invite your family and friends to pledge . . . you’ll be amazed at the results.

Featured Article
Catholics have been praying the Rosary for centuries. Have you ever wondered where it came from? How did we get the Hail Mary, the mysteries, or even the beads? Find out everything you need to know in this month’s featured article, “Ever Ancient, Ever New: A Brief History of the Rosary.”

Two hundred and fifty years ago, long before it was popular to write about the power of the present moment, a humble priest in the south of France wrote about how God uses the present moment to nourish, teach, guide, counsel, encourage, and challenge us. The result was this classic.

Saints have read the book you are holding now. They didn’t just read it. They devoured it, read it over and over again, and meditated upon single items.

Abandonment to Divine Providence’s popularity has never faded because it touches on the enduring themes of the human adventure. It is both down-to-earth and in the heavens. It is practical and inspirational. Allow Father de Caussade to be your spiritual guide throughout these pages, and he will teach you to recognize how God uses Providence and the present moment to guide you every day for the rest of your life.

Irish Confession

I went into the confessional box after many years of being away from the Catholic Church.
Inside I found a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap.  On one wall, there was a row of decanters with fine Irish whiskey and Waterford crystal glasses.  On the other wall was a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates.

When the priest came in, I said to him, "Father, forgive me, for it's been a very long time since I've been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be."

He replied, "You moron, you're on my side."
