Lost in a book!

We love this picture of learners from the Phemba Mfundi Literacy Project at Meje Junior Secondary School in Bizana who've received books from FunDza. That look of absorption and excitement says it all... reading stories and books can change lives!

At the present we are strategising how to streamline our beneficiary book programme in order to offer our reading groups more dedicated support. Our survey feedback shows that those groups who use our books in conjunction with our resource materials and activities register greater improvements in learners' language skills, reading ability and reading pleasure. So, it is important for us to be able to deliver on this need with more training and resources for our reading group champions to use our materials more effectively with their groups.

We are also gearing up for a busy year with special projects planned in Limpopo, Gauteng, the Western Cape and more. And, it's the start of the new phase of our Rights project - Rights 2.0 - Bridging Divides. Check out this blog that details the end of the first phase and provides a snapshot of what we're planning for the next three years. There's also more news below, so read the blogs and don't forget that you can always stay up to date with FunDza if you like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.

With love from all of us
Mignon, Dorothy, Ros, Zimkhitha, Phoebe, Nandi, Ndibulele, Sonja, Shelley, Alonzo, Veronica, Aimee-Claire, Tamica, Siki, Xolisa, Rethabile and Steve
