Celebrating five years of reading...

As last month was our birthday month we wanted to share the love with our readers. So we hosted a 'Five Facts about FunDza' competition on Entrants had to answer five questions about FunDza correctly in order to enter the random draw. It was hard. You had to be a 'BIG' FunDza reader to know all the right answers – only 10% of the entrants fitted into this category. Congratulations to the three winners... and to all the other long-term and avid FunDza readers.

Winner Mmoledi Gaesite walked away with R2500 in cash while the two runners-up, Abel Mangkela and Cally Saayman, each won R1250. Each of them is also getting a goodie-bag of FunDza delights. We were delighted to hear that two of the three winners said that they'd be using the prize money to buy books for themselves. We love to hear that FunDza is encouraging reading AND book buying too! Click here to read more about them.

We had a fun day with photographer Simon Watson learning how to use our FunDza camera, donated by NOMU, to take good shots. We attend and run so many workshops and events, but our documentation of these hasn't always been up to scratch. Click here to view some pics taken at our training session.

Unfortunately the camera training happened only after our fantastic strategy workshop, facilitated – very serendipitously – by Gill Faris, so we didn't take amazing pictures of the event... but we did have a deep and reflective day – sharing our hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future. Read about it here.

Finally, there's lots to look forward to in May – from literary festivals, to mentorship workshops, a conference in Cairo and more! Click through on the links below to catch up with our latest news and find out what's on the horizon.
