Welcome to the first Community Newsletter of 2014. We hope that you will find it interesting, educational and humorous. If you know an Armenian and he tells you to stop ironing his head, then you are annoying him. We talk about this and other idioms that might make you smile. We have two Dotsub users featured from different ends of the video spectrum. First there is Girl Rising, a Hollywood movie featuring stars such as Cate Blanchett and Alicia Keys. Second, we visit the Idaho AEYC providing professional training to early child care providers. We also take a look at the recently released Vimeo player and some information about Bitcoin. As always, we provide the statistics for December 2013 from the Dotsub website and information about where you can find and talk to us around the world.

A Film Turns into a Movement

Girl Rising started as a movie supported by some of the big names in the Entertainment World who wanted to showcase the strength of the human spirit, and turned into a Worldwide grassroots movement. A partnership between Tertia and Dotsub is bringing this powerful message to the world. Girl Rising would like you to use your language skills to help increase girls' access to education worldwide. See how you can help.

Bitcoin Payments now Supported

The Dotsub CEO just gave a presentation to a packed house at Bitcoin NYC and announced Dotsub's support of Bitcoin and that we will accept Bitcoin payment

Captioning Support Added

Vimeo recently announced a complete rebuild of the Vimeo player. See how this impacts their ability to deal with captions and subtitles. Statistics for December

Here are the monthly statistics for December from our Web Site. For those of you who regularly read this section, you will know that every newsletter I promise to write the newsletter in whatever language that the most visitors originate from. How about giving me a challenge? Spanish seems to be winning this particular battle, so keep up the good work and in a few months I may be learning a new language.
Getting the Word Out
The Hispanic population is the fastest growing segment in Idaho and the Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC) is getting ahead of the game by providing Professional Training for Early Child Care Providers in their native language. See what they are doing here.

Legs and Ears, Noodles and Camels – the Art of Translation
