Under His Wings
News from Gwen Hanna

  • Praise the Lord for "bask-in-that-this-Christmas" kind of hope!
  • Thank God for his provision, opportunity, and grace to carry the three of us through a challenging semester.
  • Thank God for Dad's recovery from another round of bladder cancer treatments.
  • The gift you ... and so many who generously give, pray, and walk with us in this journey.
  • Ask God to bring rest, peace, and joy to those who are grieving, struggling, and in need of God's hope.
  • Please pray for those who come and the family members that support those who receive care at the  ranches.
  • Please ask God to give each of us (you, me, my gals, the others receiving this) the courage, boldness, and persistence in being representatives of our king, Jesus, in this world.

My Gals

Taya has completed a very demanding semester. I don't think I could have studied both cellular molecular biology and Greek and come through very well! Next semester will be pretty heavy, too. She asked me to thank so many of you who have given for her summer "CCU to the World" mission trip that will be going to participate with other students from around the world (many who are not Christians) in an archaeological dig in Israel. She has about $1000 more to raise if you are still interested.*

Jori is home for Christmas! She has done so well to meet the challenges of her first semester at Taylor University. She has settled right back into her spot at our table and on our couch, loving us and our kitty! What a gift to have her here for a couple of weeks. Our agenda is to rest, play games, read what we choose to, watch movies, and recharge for the next round! She experienced the joy of her first published devotional, and soon her first book review should come out as well. What a joy to see her following her dream!

Christmas Hope

Hi Friends,

My gals helped me with some interior Christmas decorations yesterday and last night we got about seven inches of snow! It is feeling like the kind of "white" and "home for Christmas" described in the carols. I'm enjoying the gift and soaking in the blessing!

My last class for my last exam of this semester was in my Doctrine class. The last segment of my notes is entitled,
"Conclusion: Christianity Is a Confidently Hopeful Religion: Hope and assurance."
Because our triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) is all-loving, all-powerful, all-holy, all-just, transcendent and immanent, we have hope! If we believe in the baby, Jesus, who came, grew, lived, died, and was resurrected, we are assured of meaning, empowerment, and eternal living in the restored reality of whole, healthy, forgiven, redeemed, untangled, free, and joy-filled heavenly environment!

God is wholly "other" and absolutely near and present. He knows, sees, loves, and seeks to restore all that is broken in each of us. That is not just a "snippet" of hope, that is the real, deep, and bask-in-that-this-Christmas fullness that brings joy!

Merry Christmas!

"Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings." (Psalm 63:7)
