Volunteer Manitoba, together with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, are pleased to announce the winners of the 33rd Annual Volunteer Awards!

The annual volunteer awards dinner honours those who have made a significant contribution to our community. Individuals, youth and community groups are recognized for their outstanding achievements, their dedication to the community we share and excellence in volunteerism.

“Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries is delighted to once again partner with Volunteer Manitoba in honouring those who pay it forward by investing time and energy back into their communities. It is individuals like these volunteers who make Manitoba such a great place to live and grow,” says John Stinson, CEO.

The 33rd Annual Volunteer Awards will be held on April 28th at the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg and will feature a keynote address by Her Honour the Honourable Janice Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.

“Manitoba’s volunteers are leading by example, inspiring others to get involved and transforming their communities. The impact being made by volunteers is what makes Manitoba one of the leading provinces when it comes to community engagement – something we can all take pride in,” says Liz Wilson, Board President, Volunteer Manitoba. “On behalf of Volunteer Manitoba, congratulations to all of the recipients and nominees of the 33rd annual volunteer awards. What an honour it is to recognize and celebrate these incredible Manitobans who continue to demonstrate commitment and a passion for community through volunteerism.”

Whether you are working as a full time volunteer manager for an organization or charity, you manage volunteers as part of your overall job, or you are a contract worker for an event or festival, managing volunteers requires strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with others. Effective and efficient risk management practices are critical for organizations to fulfill legal, moral and ethical responsibilities for all whom they engage. Screening helps define the relationship between the organization and its volunteers, and increases the quality, safety of the programs, and services being delivered to the community.
