"Neither self-righteous nor bombastic, these wide-ranging mini-tales coast on a gently insistent tone of regret. Without pointing fingers or naming names, Mr. Tec reminds us that change does not happen overnight."
--Jeannette Catsoulis, The New York Times

Professor Frederick Roden helps me better understand my own work.

I am thrilled that Dr. Frederick Roden has agreed to moderate a brief post-screening conversation this Saturday night. Each time I appear on a panel with Fred, he helps me uncover hidden connections between my own work and the work of my Mom, Nechama Tec, whose work sought to uncover and illuminate the complicated nature of altruism during the Holocaust.

When we finished editing WE PEDAL UPHILL and were thinking about how to market it, we kept coming back to two words: courage and cowardice. As I look back at some of the stories contained in the film, I realize how blurred the lines between the two can be. How where we think we see cowardice, courage may be hiding waiting to be set free.

We just need to access the right keys to unlock it.

That is certainly my hope for the nation today.
