Hi Darling,

It's a new year. Why not invite someone you love into the RT Inner Circle?

This email is free. Social Media is not. No one's tracking where your gaze lands or on which link you choose to click in order to wire funds into some offshore account. It's just me offering you stuff I hope you'll find useful.

Me to you. Period. Simple. Quaint.

I'm Roland Tec and I approved this message.

In Audience Solidarity,

P.S. Reply to this email with suggestions, questions, and/or requests.

Join us for the first annual lunchtime celebration and awards ceremony

Monday February 14, 2022 at 12:30PM, EST

Looking ahead to the coming weeks I'm struck by how lucky I am to find myself touched by brilliant theatre artists who somehow managed to keep making exciting work under the crushing weight of pandemic wait.

Since last October's application deadline, our judges for the Alvin Epstein Prize have been reviewing work from writer-performers from Alaska to Maine and almost everywhere in between.

Join us for a Valentine's Day Lunch Celebration on Zoom at which you will meet our six finalists for this year's prize, enjoy a sampling of their work and learn who will be named the first recipient of the Alvin Epstein Memorial Prize for Solo Performance.

The winning artist will receive an honorarium of $975 and will spend the next several months working with me in the RT Private Studio and with Gretchen Cryer on a new solo project which will then be supported with a workshop presentation before the end of 2022.

Those who attend the Valentine's Day Celebration will get to vote for Alvin Epstein Audience Favorite whose work will be highlighted alongside our other award winners at Hear Me Out 2022.

The As-Yet-Untitled-Roland-Tec-Play-on-Jan-6th

And as if that were not enough to feed my hungry soul, I'll have the pleasure of taking direction from Suzanne Bachner as I prepare for the very first reading of my latest play, my response to the January 6th insurrection, which I'm still calling The-As-Yet-Untitled-Roland-Tec-Play-on-Jan-6th.

There's a chance I may settle on a title before the February 7th reading. But don't count on it. You know how I can be with titles! Many of you have heard me tell you that I love your play or screenplay but I hate your title.

Titles are too important a decision to make in haste. So stay tuned.

Some1Speaking Returns to a Zoom Theatre Near You February 7th

It was absolutely necessary for us to take January off  but we're now raring to go with the first installment of our monthly monologue odyssey, Some1Speaking. Join us February 7th for an exciting lineup including work by: Donald Loftus, Jeremy Kehoe, Debbie Lamedman, Donna Sorbello and Janet Kenney.

Anyone with strong Boston theatre marathon ties will not want to miss the appearance of former Naked Brunch performer Jerry Kaplan and Donna Sorbello and Janet Kenney, both of whom will be performing their own new monologues live for the first time.

The first five monologues of this season.

Our Monologue Odyssey Continues.

On the first Monday evening of each month, Hear Me Out Monologues introduces us to 5 characters through 5 monologues written by 5 fabulous writers. We call this: Some1Speaking

Meet the 2022 Epstein Prize Finalists

RTOWW Sunday Afternoon Reading Series

Finally, I want to thank Janice L. Goldberg who is putting together a handful of Sunday afternoon readings of new work by current members of the RT Online Writers Workshop. These readings by professional actors provide a unique opportunity to get acquainted with some wonderful playwrights through smart, short and entertaining readings of short-form work and excerpts from full-length.

On Sunday February 27, we'll kick off these readings with work by: TAMIR, Dan Brancroft, Sharon Dilworth, Crystal Adaway, Patricia Barrier, Lesley Becker and Anya Martin. Please join us at 3PM February 27, 2022. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance and are limited to the first 49 of you who act.
Reserve Your Tix for Sunday Readings

A bit of wisdom from James Baldwin:

from Notes of a Native Son (gender changed from he to she by RT)
Any writer, I suppose, feels that the world into which she was born is nothing less than a conspiracy against the cultivation of her talent--which attitude certainly has a great deal to support it. On the other hand, it is only because the world looks on her talent with such a frightening indifference that the artist is compelled to make her talent important.
