Recipe of the Month

Pumpkin Bread Pudding

Ingredients:
-1.5 cups almond milk (or whatever milk you prefer)
-3/4 cup canned pumpkin
-1/2 cup agave nectar/organic sugar/maple syrup (I used agave)
-2 large eggs plus 1 egg yolk
-1/2 tspn salt
-1 tspn ground cinnamon
-1/2 tspn ground ginger
-1/8 tspn ground allspice
-5 cups cubed (1-inch) day-old baguette or crusty bread
-3/4 stick unsalted butter, melted 

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 350 and place rack in the middle
-Whisk together pumpkin, milk, agave, eggs, yolk, salt, and spices in a large bowl
-Toss bread cubes with butter in another bowl
-Add pumpkin mixture and toss to coat
-Transfer to an ungreased 8-inch square baking dish and bake until custard is set, 25 to 30 minutes.

With the snowy weather, we'd like to remind our members to please bring a change of sneakers on snowy/slushy/wet days to put on when you get to the gym. This will help prevent unnecessary wear and tear on our machines. Thank you!!

Introducing "Shake Your Sugar Blues!"
     Sugar can suppress the immune system, weaken eyesight, cause hypoglycemia, cause weight gain, exacerbate arthritis, contribute to osteoporosis, increase cholesterol, lead to prostate and ovarian cancer, contribute to diabetes, speed up skin aging, increase fluid retention, and cause poor concentration, mood swings, and depression. -Learn how to identify hidden sources of sugar
-Learn about sugar substitutes, and their pros and cons

Fitness Challenge: Transformation 2012!

You'll have peer support, the help of Certified Personal Trainers, and health coaching to help you achieve results in becoming healthier, losing weight, and leading a better lifestyle. You'll see results, feel stronger mentally and physically, and have increased daily energy. The program will run over 8 weeks beginning the first week of February.  We will have bi-weekly challenges, weekly weigh-ins and many options to workout with our Personal Trainers. There will be a variety of levels and different pricing plans.  More details will follow soon.
