Dear New Roots Families,
Welcome to the new school year! As we stand on the threshold of the next 10 years at New Roots, I am writing to offer information and reflections about the new school year ahead.
Our first day of classes at New Roots will be Wednesday, September 4. School will be in session for all students from 9:00 - 4:00 p.m. every day this week. Students will review their schedules in Crew on Wednesday and have an opportunity to add or drop courses according to their needs or interests. Instruction will begin in all academic courses on the first day. Please contact Remanu Steele at email@example.com
if you have any scheduling questions.
Our annual Sense of Place orientation intensive will be scheduled for later this fall, to allow students and teachers an opportunity to settle into the rhythms of our new schedule.
Our lobby hours will be from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. this year, with after school program offerings scheduled from 4:00-5:00 p.m. four days per week. Students will receive a schedule of after school offerings during Crew this week. After school programming will begin the week of September 9.
This has been a summer of staffing transitions at New Roots, but despite the changes, 76% of our 17 teachers are returning with one or more years of New Roots teaching experience, and of our four new teachers, 75% have a decade or more of teaching experience. And 100% are exactly the right people for the good work ahead! I am so inspired by the plans that this powerful, professional team of educators has for the new school year ahead. Visit the faculty and staff page
on our website to learn more about our New Roots staff members, new and old.
As always, I welcome hearing from you. Please reply to this email with your questions, concerns, and ideas to get the conversation started.
So excited for the new school year,
Founder and Principal
