Acknowledging the Sovereign Goodness of God

During the past school year, our Good News Club® programs have had to change and adapt. Three main alternatives emerged: on-site at the school following COVID guidelines, off-site at alternate locations, and virtually on Zoom. In each scenario, God has shown Himself faithful. Enjoy these testimonies from three of our local volunteers!
On-Site Good News Club
We have had many new families, several salvations, and very consistent attendance (between 25 and 28 kids each week). I only got one call from the superintendent of our district who had a report that we were teaching without masks. I told him we all always wear masks except when I was up front, six feet away, and teaching the Bible lesson. He suggested I move to a further distance. I did, putting an empty row of tables between myself and the kids. We have had no further calls. We are so grateful that God has allowed us to continue this ministry when so many have been shut down or changed.
Off-Site Good News Club
Good News Club this year has been very different from past years, and it came with a lot of new challenges. I was concerned at first if we would be able to connect with the kids being six feet apart, or if they could still have fun while following all the new guidelines, but I was mostly worried that we wouldn’t have as many kids because our club was no longer in the school, but at our church. But our club has really thrived this year! We have more time to set up and more flexibility in what we can do. The kids are just as excited about coming to club, and they are still bringing their friends! God has shown us that even in challenging and difficult times, He is still working and He can still use us to grow His Kingdom.
Virtual Good News Club
It was with great sadness that our Good News Club came to an abrupt halt last year due to COVID. It was inevitable that our only alternative to continue our club was to move from an "in person"  teaching to virtual teaching via Zoom. Our club teachers primarily consist of older women that are not too technology-savvy, but with much prayer, and the help of CEF and one of our young teachers, we figured it out!

Although there are many benefits to meeting in person, we have also found that there have been blessings to meeting virtually also. We are actually taking our teaching right into the homes of our children. That being the case, we often see parents within ear shot of our teaching! We pray that they are also listening to the truth of God's Word. Younger siblings are also joining in to listen on a regular basis. Our kids have joined us from wherever they are....even while they are on vacation! What a great testimony of God's faithfulness to use modern technology to accomplish his perfect purpose!

God has used this messy time in history to show Himself glorious, sovereign, loving and all powerful. To God be the glory, great things He has done!

Introducing the 2021 Summer Ministry Team!

Lauren (8th year)

Attending CYIA and reaching children with CEF have become the highlight of my year and essential for my summers. Even going into college with internship opportunities coming up, I knew that this is what God has called me to do, and I can't ignore His calling for me.

Mia (5th year)
God has been calling me to be a summer missionary since my first year in 2017. I really feel as though this is where God wants me to be, so I will continue to be involved as long as He calls me to be! I love Christian Youth In Action® and the friendships I have made; they have helped me so much through tough times.

Chloe (4th year)
I am excited to return to CYIATM and to share the Gospel with children in my area! It fills me with joy to show kids how much God loves them and wants them to be a part of His family. God has led me to this ministry year after year and I am thrilled to obey so I can grow in my faith throughout the summer.

Myra (4th year)
As a believer, God has entrusted to me the good news of the Gospel, and called me to share it! I want every child to call on Jesus and know of His great love for them. CYIA training quips me to share the Gospel, and Summer Good News Club gives me a wonderful opportunity to use that training! God is beautiful and powerful and worthy to be shared.

Silas (3rd year)
This summer I had a tough choice: work full time, or volunteer with CEF again. The reason I chose CYIA was the same idea that makes me come back year after year. What is the most important thing God tells us to do? Love others. I must show love to these kids that I teach, and I do that by teaching them the most important message, the Gospel.

Cameron (2nd year)
I served as a summer missionary last year, and it was a great experience! I really enjoyed meeting new people. I’m excited that CYIA this year will be in person at camp, and I’m looking forward to teaching Summer Good News Clubs again. Last year I learned the kids you teach really mean a lot to you.

Ariana (1st year)
I have been involved with an after school Good News Club, and that has made me want to get involved this summer too! All of my siblings have participated in the CYIA program and I’m looking forward to doing so as well.

Hudson (1st year)
I have watched my sisters serve over the last five years and I am excited to learn how to share my faith with others too. Mark 16:15 says, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” I see this program as a great opportunity to obey God’s command.

Alli (1st year)
I am serving as a summer missionary because I want to grow in my faith. I also want to share the Gospel with kids and see them come to know God. I am excited to be able to work with kids and share the Gospel with them when they are young! I am also considering becoming a missionary in the future, so serving as a summer missionary now will be really helpful training for me.

Faith (1st year)
I want to be a summer missionary because I know how important it is for a child to know Christ. Many children don’t come from Christian homes, so they haven’t heard the Gospel. I have had the privilege of knowing Christ for most of my life and now I want to share Him with others.

Krista (1st year)
I am serving as a summer missionary because I want to reach children with the Gospel. I am looking forward to building community with other believers in sharing the Gospel as well as building relationships with the kids that I will be teaching. I plan to use this training beyond the summer to reach anyone I come into contact with!

After two weeks of CYIA training in June, our team will be teaching Summer Good News Clubs all across Southeast Wisconsin through July and August. We’re so excited to see how God will use these young people to impact many lives for Christ! Please keep our team in your prayers. If you’re interested in hosting a Summer Good News Club contact
