Nisa Lee Event HAPPENINGS

SEASONS OF LOVE

With less than two weeks remaining until the end of 2017, and as each season begins and ends, the hazy grey shades of winter is upon us.  There is so much love and kindness in December that just keeps us feeling happy and warm.

In the spirit of the season, expressing love is what we do best for ourselves, children, family, friends and others.   Acts of love can also be reflected in kindness, patience, compassion, and giving.  We strive each and every day to  demonstrate love so that our hearts are filled with joy.

This is one of my favorite “love” verses,  “Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy.  It does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude.  It is not self seeking.  It is not easily angered.  It keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with truth.  It always protects, trusts, hopes, and preservers.  Love never fails.” - Corinthians

It has been awhile since my last newsletter and I am so excited to share with you an amazing year. Filled with loving celebrations, an unforgettable adventure in the South of France, poetry in motion, love letters, the spirit of giving, and swinging to love, I promise you will enjoy each piece of it.

In Seasonal Highlights, I produced and designed so many beautiful weddings and events that took place in each of the four seasons.  You will feel the love that was shared by each couple, their families, and friends.

More importantly, I want to extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the couples and their families.  In giving me the opportunity to plan exquisite and colorful weddings, bat mitzvahs, and other milestone celebrations, I understand in many ways how love can be expressed.   You invited me into your home, and made me a member of your family.  It was an honor to be a part of your special day.

In An Adventure Awaits, you will get a sneak peak of my summer in Occitanie (formerly known as Languedoc-Rouisillon) in the south of France.  I visited the private vineyards of Vignobles-JeanJean and Gerard Bertrand, the castles of Carcassonne, the French Riviera, Chateaux de Pennautier, Village Castigno,  Abbaye De Valmange, and many other magnificent places.

As well as being able to travel the world, I was invited to teach an exclusive private Thai cooking class next year at La Tour du Chateau (www.latourduchateau.com), the home of Peter and Jodi Gaffey.   They own a chateau tower overlooking the famous Canal Du Midi on a land once owned by Julius Caesar. They take pride in designing custom vacations that include truly authentic French experiences primarily focused on wine, gastronomy and history.

The ability to travel the world, is one of the most precious gifts we have. It is an honor and privilege to be a global citizen. In my travels, I remember those who went the extra mile and chose to appreciate my time with them. It is these individuals, who help create a lasting memory.  I am excited to be working with them and to plan future destination weddings and private events for my clients in the South of France.

Next month, in light of my travels, these regions will be highlighted and explained in greater depth.  By following me on social media, you will be updated and notified of my current news and behind the scenes images. Visit my website, www.nisalee.com, Instagram: nisalee.weddingevents, Twitter: @nisaclee, and Facebook: nisa.lee.eventsandcatering.

Poetry is an inspiring way of words, and in Poetry in Motion, a group of captivating people are introduced. My love for poetry was even more enhanced after meeting The Haiku Guys and Gals, www.thehaikuguys.com.  I love their sense of authentic and original writing style.  It is a unique and an interactive sense of entertainment.  It is why my clients enjoy having them at their weddings and events.  You will enjoy reading their Haiku for each of the four seasons.

Allowing yourself to express your emotions is key in a healthy relationship.  I express my gratitude and appreciation to my family and children, friends, and clients over hand written messages.  The ability to connect with others in such a mannered and simple fashion is exciting.  It represents a sense of willingness to take your time to write meaningful notes to your love ones.  In the Love Letter section, it is about doing something good and making someone feel special.  I hope that you will be inspired to make someone happy.

I am thrilled to be working with Wedu, www.weduglobal.org, a member of the Clinton Global Initiative. In the Spirit of Giving, I strive to give back and to help to support groups like Wedu. It is an organization that aims to unlock the leadership potential of young women in Asia. It enables them to become leaders of their own development and empowers them to be the agents of change in their communities.

Lastly, in Swinging to Love, I had the pleasure in meeting an amazing couple. Brent and Krista McHenry create and customize beautiful vintage porch swings, www.vintageporchswings.com.  They have the most inspiring love story and during my visit in Charleston this past year, I fell in love with one of their vintage swings.  I look forward to having their beautiful swings at my client's weddings.

Thank you so very much for a seasonal year, filled with love and special memories.

As the Dalai Lama states - “the more you are motivated by love, the more fearless and free your action will be.”

Wishing you and your family love, wonder, joy, and peace of the season and throughout the new year. Happy holidays!

With great love and gratitude,

Nisa Lee

An Adventure Awaits

Sometimes our most memorable times, are when we go off and find ourselves in the unknown world. Occitanie is one of those amazing and memorable places. Located in the South of France, Occitanie isn't as well known as its “sisters” in the East, Provence and Cote d’Azure. However, it provides authentic French beauty and culture that is not commonly found.

These beautiful and historic regions are some of my favorite destinations.  I can't wait to plan future weddings and events in 2018!

In my travels, I had the pleasure of meeting Peter and Jodi Gaffey, two of the most kind-hearted, genuine people I have ever met.  They own La Tour du Chateau, www.latourduchateau.com, an elegant yet realized medieval 5 bedroom property.  They customize unique memorable French vacations and will always make you feel at home.  I am excited to be working with them to share my love of cooking as a guest celebrity chef for an exclusive Thai cooking class at La Tour du Chateau, .

Poetry in Motion

Poetry is one of my favorite types of writing.  My love for it has increased for the better, after meeting the Haiku guys and gals, www.thehaikuguys.com, when I was planning for Amanda and Chris wedding.  Together, they work to create amazing pieces for the couples, their families, and invited guests.  They grow a bond with each guests and write meaningful Haikus for them.  They produce an interactive activity for guests and make the moment even more enjoyable.
Here's a wonderful piece, that was typed for me from an event.

Love Letters

A friend of mine told me a beautiful story, about a woman, who would receive letters from her husband during WWII.  Every week, she would wait and look forward to receive his letters to her.  After reading them, she knew she was loved.

During Thanksgiving, I gave my children and their cousins a project.  They were to design and create general holiday, thank you, and birthday cards to the elderly and someone in the military.

Together we created over 30 cards.  We sent them to two organizations, Love the elderly, www.lovefortheelderly.org, and a million thanks, www.amillionthanks.org.   During the holiday break, you can clear the winter blues by doing this project with your family.

In the Spirit of Giving

Wedu, www.weduglobal.org, is based in Bangkok, Thailand, giving it a sense of closeness to my heart. My parents valued the importance of education and I benefited from attending the  schools in New York.  And now it is time for me to give back and to further promote and support Wedu’s mission.

They offer mentorship and innovative financing options for completing university education to high potential women called the “Rising Stars”.  Together, mentorship and education give young women the tools to realize their full leadership potential and goals.   I hope that you will get involved.

Swinging to Love

When was the last time you sat on a porch swing?  Do you remember how relaxing and happy you felt?  Well, what if you had one at your wedding, private event or even your own home, perhaps as a bed swing.  Brent and Krista McHenry from, www.vintageporchswing.com, will design and create the perfect swing for your next event and home.
