“When I perform, I feel like it’s really hard for people to just stand around, you know? Because I wanna make sure you’re dancing. Like, let’s do this!” She snapped her fingers commandingly. “Right now.”" - Zuzuka

Focused on making music and releasing singles and EPs for DJs,  Zuzuka has been working with various producers across the country + internationally exploring new sounds and picking up inspiration from her travels.  Expect new releases in Early 2012 including a short EP with Bay Area based producer, Kush Arora (featuring remixes from acclaimed producers) and a different project exploring a sound she's coined, Baile Crunk, with NYC based producer, Burt Fox.

More about Zuzuka Poderosa:

Zuzuka Poderosa is the new queen warrior of her own special brand of baile funk. Funk carioca, originating in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and which borrowed heavily from the Miami booty bass movement, is just the starting place of her sound. Born in Vitoria, Brazil, Zuzuka grew up in Rio, with her formative years spent in the West Indies. She later moved to Brooklyn, NYC to study jazz vocal improvisation and work at her poetry. For the past few years, she's been building up the underground bailefunk, moombahton and tropical bass scene in New York as a DJ, host and bartender. Currently working on her debut album, she collaborates with producers from all over the world who mix the past with the future in sur americal-cosmic new ways. She raps and sings in Portuguese, Spanish and English, musing provocatively and sarcastically over boomy electric kick drums and Latin percussion. She makes Carioca Bass music. 'Interracial musical babies' all her own.  Her sound is fierce and fun, conjuring images of hot summer dance parties on gritty Brooklyn rooftops or up in the hills overlooking the sea.

She has performed along side artists like Ana Tijoux, Bomba Estereo, Spoek Mathambo, Maluca, Dave Nada, Araab Musik, Los Rakas, Uproot Andy and others with a dynamic show that's no-holds barred.

Watch her performing live at Brooklyn Bowl on Creative Control TV.
