New board, new platform and Open Meeting

In this newsletter we…

  • Invite you to an Open Meeting the 1st of Marts at 11.00 - 12.30
  • Introduce our new membership platform
  • Introduce the newly elected executive board of AREA

Open Meeting: Now it’s up to you!

Tuesday, March 1st from 11 AM to 12:30 PM

We often get asked: who is who at these AREA-meetings, what is that person doing and where do they work?

That's why we have decided for the next OPEN MEETING to let you all present yourself: tell us about the projects you do, the place you work and the experiences you have. We also encourage you to ask questions about subsidies, finding partners for projects, finding information about residencies, touring and more.

Henk will talk about his work and the AREA Rural Labs! ….and Leif will talk about his international work in rural Sweden…..and at the very end of the meeting; Morten will tell us how to use our brand-new members platform AREA Mighty Network, which you'll read more about later in this newsletter!

We look forward to see you there!

Welcome to the AREA platform

Since AREA started we have focused on creating a network that supports arts in rural areas, mainly through this mailing list and Zoom-meetings. We are now ready to take the next step and invite you all into our very own social digital network.

Find the platform here:

A place to network, communicate and co-create

Our new membership platform is built using Mighty Networks, a digital service created to help communities like ours interact and grow.

With Mighty Networks we get

  • A way to get to know other members

  • A way to get in touch with other members (there's a message system)

  • Groups to facilitate co-creation, working groups, projects and more

  • A feed to share inspiration, ask questions and communicate

  • And much more...

The executive team and working groups coordinators have spent the last month trying out the platform, and we are now opening the platform to all current and coming members, so you can help us create the most inspiring space for all of us. To join the platform you pay a subscription for a year. This subscription will also be your membership fee, so the platform also helps us automate the membership-process.

Just to let you know, only the executive team and coordinators have been invited at this point, so you won't find ALL members there already.

For members: Be aware that the payment you made in 2021 was for the year 2021 and not for the coming 12-month so you will need to pay your 2022 membership fee through the platform.

Meet the new executive board of AREA

We had our yearly General Assembly in AREA in late January. It was great to meet up with other members and hear about the year that passed, and what's to expect for the coming year. The members of the executive board are selected for two years, so only three positions were to be voted for by the participating members.

The new members for the board are

  • Peter Gran Boesen (DK) - Partner and Consultant, Urban Goods

  • Sue Robinson (UK) - Director and Owner, Culturapedia

  • Morten Mosgaard (DK) - Theatrical producer, Sound Designer and Composer, Teater Jævn

These four members was selected last year, and will continue their work in AREA in 2022

  • Jean Vinet (F) - Managing Director and Consultant, La compagnie transatlantique

  • Karine Décorne (Wales / UK) - Cultural Entrepreneur and Curator, Migrations

  • Leif Persson (S) - Director and former Scheme Leader, Teater Dos

  • Henk Keizer (DK / NL) - Cultural Project Developer, Kunstneren Tæt På and Gelijk Spel

If you wish to become an AREA Member:

  • You can now join AREA by signing up through our membership platform: - when you pay for a subscription to the platform, you have paid your membership fee (yup, administration just got a whole lot easier for us).
  • If you wan't to know more about AREA before joining, please look at our website to learn who we are:
