Nov 2020 - Lion's Den, Groovy B-day, Marble & Combing, Art Deals, Safe Holiday Wishes

Holy never-ending election!
For November in WI we certainly had a remarkable stretch of warm weather. That and the election results really improved my mood. Mom and I took a trip to Port Washington and the Lion’s Den Gorge Nature Preserve on the bluffs of Lake Michigan. What a view! It was my first time there. We didn’t explore all the trails, but what we saw was gorgeous - SLIDESHOW.  I had a birthday this week, and I’m feeling groovy. You older musically inclined folks will get that reference. I ‘partied at home’ all weekend (while I wasn’t painting houses). Watched movies, got flowers, cards, chocolates, opened some good brandy, and had dinners made and delivered for me. Thoughtful messages from so many friends on Facebook made it really special. I visited with each one of them in my mind as I read what they wrote. One of the best things about social media are the birthday reminders that help keep us all connected.
I had some fun jobs this month that went from bed, bath and beyond. I painted two fancy marble columns, which is something I haven’t done in years. It was surprising to me, after posting photos on social media, how many people didn’t know this is something I do. I also did combed glass painting on two side windows of an entrance door. The effect was just enough to add privacy, but still let the light through. I’ve only done this style of glass painting on wine glasses, so it was fun to see a large scale version. I used the combed effect again this week in a metallic sea foam green for a bathroom. I must say, I love the look of it. My most recent job was for a master bedroom and walk in closet in a 100 year old house. I did a wet-in-wet soft sage green glaze applied in a swishy swoop design over antique white base paint. It looks a little like a garden with falling leaves. Mom saw a photo of it. She wants it done on an accent wall in her apartment. It was the first time I tried this technique. Who says old folks can’t learn new tricks?
I have so much art in stock: paintings, mixed media pieces, mini art, mobiles, earrings, etc.  Since I won’t be doing any shows this season, I am really up for making deals. if you are interested in purchasing Art by Anita for holiday gifts (or yourself) contact me for a private *masked tour.
I hope that you are all remaining safe and staying home for the holidays – and counting your blessings! It is better to miss your family members for another holiday, than to miss them forever. I am so grateful for President elect Biden & Dr. Fauci and other experts at the CDC who will now stand unified behind science with a plan to defeat Covid. The upcoming vaccines sound very promising – with a higher efficacy than expected. But they will not be widely available to most of us until late spring – SEVEN months from now! This is no time to let down our guard.
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving! May your holiday gatherings be small in size and abundant in joy.
*Wear a damn mask.
