Window Woman, VA @ Wilson, Art Collage, Old Songs, PR Fest
Happy Summer Daze,
I hosted Book club last month. My selection was “Woman in the Window” by A.J. Finn. Review I couldn’t put it down. Finished it in a day and a half. This new novel has already been published in 26 foreign countries and Amy Adams will be starring in the movie version. The heroine, Anna, lives alone—separated from her husband and daughter. She is agoraphobic. Spends her days drinking wine, watching black and white movies, and spying on her neighbors. One night she sees a murder…or did she? What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? It his a suspenseful mix of Hitchcock and Gaslight. Also shades of “Gone Girl” and “Woman on the Train”.
The veterans photo group is ready for their exhibit. Please join us for the artist reception at The Sharon Lynn Wilson Center on Aug 3 at 5:30. Stick around the for the free Starry Night Concert, The Whiskey Belles from 6:30-8:30. This is the slide show of our adventures. The exhibit will be on display from July 25 – Aug 8. It was a good month for art sales. Four more of the truck art series was delivered to my client this week and they are placing additional orders for a few VIP clients. Weeeee. I was also commissioned to create a photo collage by my sister in law. Penny asked me to make a friend tribute for Tom’s brother, Mark. He recently lost a dear friend and the collage features many things they shared as friends. It’s the kind of project I love to work on. My next show is at the ART BAR on August 31 with the Martini Girls. The name of the show is ‘True Colors’. I’m leaning towards something scientific, but that’s as far as I have gotten. Stay tuned.
Speaking of tuning, we had the grand piano tuned and hosted the first sing along at mom’s place! The Landmark community room is a terrific location for parties. Family and friends and a whole lot of residents sang their hearts out…well as much of the words as they could remember, lol. We had snacks and drinks and about 45 people. I need to figure out a system to project lyrics or display them on the large TV screen. Too bad it’s not a smart TV, but I’ll figure something out. I seriously just have too many songs to try to print up lyric books. Also need to find out what songs they know. As expected lots of show tunes and oldies - right up my alley. I’ll just have to teach them more standards.
If you like free park festivals don’t miss the sixth annual Puerto Rican Fest on Aug 5 in Humboldt Park. Great food, great music! Here is a festival video someone posted from last year. It makes me so homesick for my family in PR! The Booze Brothers put on another great show at Summerfest. True to form, Cocktail Curtis was backstage pouring vodka lemonades from his portable mini bar! Here are some of the highlights: Part 1, Part 2
