It's already October, and we're "Fall"-ing into the swing of the school year. We want you to be able to find the best-quality content for your classroom, save time, and connect with educators sharing best practices. Read on to learn about new content and connect with the Gooru community.
Explore Collections in New Libraries
We're excited to share two new libraries in Gooru. First, the Lammersville Unified District Library features detailed unit plans and student web-resources, developed by teachers from Lammersville, CA using the Rigorous Curriculum Design framework.

District administrators, check out our new partner library, created by the Technology Information Center for Administrative Leadership (TICAL), based in Santa Cruz, CA. This library showcases collections about "Staying Abreast of Latest Research" in educational technology as well as digital citizenship.

Feel free to study, remix, and share these resources yourself! You can find these libraries under the Libraries tab in the top menu bar.

There are two ways to become a Gooru Coach.

  • Attend a Coach training in our Palo Alto office or other onsite trainings
  • OR, complete the two-part Gooru Coach Training webinar series
    • Next webinar series: Oct. 15-16. Sign up here for Part 1 and Part 2
    • Please note: The introductory Gooru 101 webinar is a prerequisite for the Coach Training series.

Teacher Feature: Breigh Rhodes and the National Geographic Geo-Educators Community

"As part of the Geo-Educator Community, I am on a committee of educators that helps design and develop the Geo-Educator Gooru Resource Library. Our team of educators has been working hard to curate a collection of excellent resources so teachers can spend more time implementing, remixing, and sharing what they collect and less time seeking them out. We grouped resources into folders according to common themes they support, and also categorized the resources within each folder into collections. For example, an educator looking to weave some outdoor opportunities into his lesson plans could navigate to the “Outdoor Learning and Environmental Stewardship” folder and then browse the â€œLessons” collection within it...Whether you’re looking to browse for inspiration or have a specific type of resource you’re seeking, our Geo-Educator Gooru Resource Library is the perfect place to start!"

With charming animation and a catchy tune, this music video from the California Academy of Sciences is a great way to introduce students in grades K-5 to the special characteristics of amphibians.
