Hi! I'm Arash, I’m an Engineering PhD; and I’m Gemma, I'm a disabled PhD researcher in the School of History and Philosophy of Science.
Together, we're your HDR Student Officers. Welcome to SUPRA – we're here to represent and advocate for you as HDRs.

BlakOut journal launch party

SUPRA invites you to the launch of the first issue of BlakOut: An Anthology of First Nations Students’ Scholarship, a journal created by the SUPRA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Network. A peer-reviewed and multidisciplinary publication, BlakOut showcases the work of five First Nations students from the University of Sydney.

Med students: seeking help with your mental health
HDRs in the Medical School and those studying in allied health fields can feel reluctant to seek help with their mental health, out of concern of being reported AHPRA.
The Black Dog Institute has prepared FAQs about these mandatory reporting requirements.

Managing your supervisor

You relationship with your supervisor will have a huge bearing on your HDR experience. Find out about:
- dealing with different supervisory styles
- differing expectations
- how to use meetings to help you make progress
- asking for and dealing with feedback
- dealing with difficult situations.

Financial and other aid
Support is available to HDR students throughout their candidature. The University offers financial bursaries, counselling, and scholarships. Some scholarships can be applied for mid-candidature. If in doubt, talk to your supervisor or your postgraduate coordinator, and you can also get in contact with SUPRA’s casework service for help.

Sunekosuri, meaning ‘shin rubber’, are small spirits from Japan who appear on rainy nights in streets where people travel. They run up behind people to rub against their shins unexpectedly. That's all they do.
