What a wonderful day we had on Saturday with members of Wem Group of WIs who joined us for their “Day of Craft”.  It was lovely to have the building (and the marquee!) filled with so much creativity, enthusiasm and laughter; we enjoyed their company and hope to see them all again soon.

Each member chose two of the four half-day workshops offered: willow weaving (dragonflies and sunflowers), needlefelting (wild sheep fridge magnets), silver clay jewellery (necklaces and earrings) and copper foiling (glass hangings).  Many thanks to tutors Sophie Francis, Clare Linford, Lori Ridgway and Jen Brewer for running some fabulous workshops.  The sun shone for us throughout the day, feedback was amazing (thank you!) and everyone made two lovely, unique pieces to take home.

Do call us if you would like us to organise a similar day of craft for your group.
Due to popular demand (and with two courses already full for next year), we are delighted to let you know that we have added a third City & Guilds Level 2 Basketry course to our programme. This is now open for booking.

Join us for one weekend each month between between October and June to immerse yourself in your basketry with like-minded students and the course tutor, Alisha Davidson.  The course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced basketmakers who wish to broaden their knowledge and develop their skills. There are no entry requirements and no previous experience is necessary.

Course fees may be paid in full in advance or in monthly instalments.  We request a non-refundable deposit on booking to secure a place.

We have some residential accommodation available to students who wish to stay in college during their course.  Full details of accommodation and costs are available on request from Sarah at
info@westhope.org.uk

If you would like to receive details of this latest City & Guilds Level 2 Basketry course at Westhope College, please email the Course Co-Ordinator, eileen@westhope.org.uk

If you are a more experienced basketmaker, you might be interested in the City & Guilds Level 3 Basketry Diploma (exclusive to Westhope College). This is a small group, progressive basketry course which teaches a wide range of basketry techniques (traditional and innovative) over two years.  It will enable you to become a well-informed basketmaker able to research and sample ideas and create well-designed baskets of a very high standard.  This is an internationally recognised qualification which will give you the skills to progress into employment in the basketry industry or to develop your own small business.  The course tutor is Clare Revera.  Please email the Course Co-Ordinator, eileen@westhope.org.uk to request a course information pack.
