Coastal Hazard Adaptation Program

Following QCoast2100's official launch on 2 June 2016, the LGAQ is happy to announce that 19 coastal councils have been awarded grant funding following submission of successful project applications. The grant funding process is on-going and the LGAQ continues to engage with all eligible councils to provide information about the Program, assist with the submission of funding applications and support funding approved projects.

QCoast2100 Forum 2017

QCoast2100's 3rd Knowledge & Information Sharing Forum will be held on Thursday, 9th of November in Townsville. The forum will feature presentations from experts and selected local government representatives with a particular focus on Phases 3 & 4 of a CHAS.

Resilient Whitsundays

Whitsunday Regional Council is taking a proactive approach to climate change, by identifying coastal hazard adaptation as a key focus for the region. With over 500km of coastline, the Whitsunday region and its residents are vulnerable to the long-term impacts of climate change.

Storm Tide Information

The LGAQ commissioned a desktop study to identify and collate existing storm tide information that is available for selected coastal communities in Queensland i.e. Lockhart River ASC, Cook SC, Hope Vale ASC, Wujal Wujal ASC, Yarrabah ASC, Palm Island ASC and Isaac RC.

Moreton Bay’s CHAS

As part of the development of the Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme Council indicated that, from mid-2016, they would be carrying out further analysis of the impact of hazards related to climate change and projected sea level rise on their coastal communities.
