Moment with Pastor Luke

This week I have been at Bass Memorial Academy in Mississippi speaking for a week of prayer. Our theme is on being rooted in Christ. Not only have I been able to speak in the evenings, but I’ve also been popping in and helping teach sophomore and junior Bible. The questions these kids have been asking are some of the most thought provoking questions i’ve ever heard. Just recently we were in class and one of the students asked me what I was looking forward to the most about Heaven. I wanted to give a good response so I thought about my answer more intently. When others had been speaking about swimming in the ocean for hours, exploring the universe, and participating in the worships that will be held in heaven, I wanted to really think about my answer. My answer was this, I can’t wait for relationships that we get to continue in, uninterrupted, for eternity. Relationships where death has no possibility, no chance of pain, no chance of loss, just continual growth with our friends and loved ones.

I can’t wait for Jesus to come and eternity to begin!

177 years ago today a group of people stood outside with that same longing and same hope. And even though Jesus has yet to come, His promise to come again is still what we fix our hope on. When He will bring with Him all the goodness, all the joy, all the peace, and death, sin, pain, and loss will be swallowed up in the lake of fire. What a day to look forward to!

Covid Comfort

The air we all breathe is important! And you might be thinking about it even more during a pandemic featuring an airborne pathogen. We wanted to write a brief overview of the Alpharetta Church’s HVAC system, to give you a little piece of mind that we are as safe as can be. Nothing in life is guaranteed, but do know that our heating and cooling system was designed and installed with the health of our occupants in mind:

  1. The entire system (installed in 2019) meets, or in many cases exceeds, the requirements of the current Georgia Mechanical Code. Fresh outside air is delivered to each of our 10 systems, and was designed per ASHRAE Standard 62.

  2. All units have Bipolar Ionization devices installed. These electronic devices generate positive and negative ions, delivering them into the airstream. They then attach themselves to airborn contaminants, dust, bacteria, etc making them larger and heavier, enabling the contaminants to be easily trapped by the air filters. These devices have been tested, and proven to eliminate the airborn SARS-CoV-2 virus as well.

  3. Each system has a MERV-13 high performance 3M air filter installed, which are inspected and replaced quarterly.

  4. Our programmable WiFi Ecobee thermostats enable our systems to run economically, and automatically runs the supply fans constantly during occupied mode, ensuring we have the designed above average air change rate while we’re in the facility.

  5. And finally, the slot diffusers you see in the high Foyer and Sanctuary ceilings are specifically designed to throw the clean, conditioned air to the floor, providing excellent air circulation.

Hope this gives you all a little comfort as we worship together each Sabbath!

PAVILION

God has a plan for everyone and everything. That includes you, and it includes the Alpharetta Seventh-day Adventist Church. We believe that stories are being shaped through our church. That is why we set out to raise $185,000 to build a pavilion where our friends, family, and neighbors can come to hear the Gospel and learn to embrace God’s better story for their lives. To date we have raised over $100,000!

This pavilion will serve as a critical part of our overall campus, allowing our youth to have outside summer gatherings, our vespers to be sheltered from the sun and rain, and so much more. You can see what the pavilion will look like by going to www.alpharettasda.com/pavilion.

We can’t pull this off without your support. Whether you give to our church on a regular basis, or just attend on occasion, we’re asking you to prayerfully consider contributing to this undertaking. It’s something we need our entire church community’s help with. Even if you can’t make a large gift, know that every little bit helps. It’s more about coming together as a community, united behind the common cause of sharing the story of Jesus. We hope that you’ll consider making a donation towards this great step forward in proclaiming the gospel.

You can give online at our website through AdventistGiving, or mark it on your tithe envelopes.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. – Psalm 27:5
