Moment with Pastor Luke

This week I read a paragraph from Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing by Ellen White that is now an all time favorite passage for me and I know it’ll be powerful for you. If you haven’t ever read this book I would highly encourage it as Sister White will take you on an exploration through the sermon on the mount of Matthew 5-7 and it will be transformative! The paragraph says this,

Whatever may have been your past experience, however discouraging your present circumstances, if you will come to Jesus just as you are, weak, helpless, and despairing, our compassionate Savior will meet you a great way off, and will throw about you His arms of love and His robe of righteousness. He presents us to the Father clothed in the white raiment of His own character. He pleads before God in our behalf, saying: I have taken the sinner’s place. Look not upon this wayward child, but look on Me. Does Satan plead loudly against our souls, accusing of sin, and claiming us as his prey, the blood of Christ pleads with greater power.

surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength….In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory - Isaiah 45:24, 25

Just, wow! the blood of Christ pleads with greater power! So whatever your experience has been this past week, come to Jesus this sabbath, just as you are and let His merit and glory encompass you. What a glorious savior we have in Jesus!

See you all tomorrow!

Nominating Committee

We had originally planned to publish the names of the nominated committee, however, through changing to 100% digital in submitting names we have had difficulty with the number of submissions. Wanting this to be a whole church effort we will be having forms in print to be submitted tomorrow at church. If you still haven’t submitted your nominations then tomorrow while at church you will be able to fill out a card and we will tally all of the submissions, both print and online this upcoming week and publish them in the next newsletter. Then October 16 we will vote as a church. If you are attending online you can still submit your nominations from the link below.

Thank you so much for making Alpharetta such a great church family!

Covid Comfort

The air we all breathe is important! And you might be thinking about it even more during a pandemic featuring an airborne pathogen. We wanted to write a brief overview of the Alpharetta Church’s HVAC system, to give you a little piece of mind that we are as safe as can be. Nothing in life is guaranteed, but do know that our heating and cooling system was designed and installed with the health of our occupants in mind:

  1. The entire system (installed in 2019) meets, or in many cases exceeds, the requirements of the current Georgia Mechanical Code. Fresh outside air is delivered to each of our 10 systems, and was designed per ASHRAE Standard 62.

  2. All units have Bipolar Ionization devices installed. These electronic devices generate positive and negative ions, delivering them into the airstream. They then attach themselves to airborn contaminants, dust, bacteria, etc making them larger and heavier, enabling the contaminants to be easily trapped by the air filters. These devices have been tested, and proven to eliminate the airborn SARS-CoV-2 virus as well.

  3. Each system has a MERV-13 high performance 3M air filter installed, which are inspected and replaced quarterly.

  4. Our programmable WiFi Ecobee thermostats enable our systems to run economically, and automatically runs the supply fans constantly during occupied mode, ensuring we have the designed above average air change rate while we’re in the facility.

  5. And finally, the slot diffusers you see in the high Foyer and Sanctuary ceilings are specifically designed to throw the clean, conditioned air to the floor, providing excellent air circulation.

Hope this gives you all a little comfort as we worship together each Sabbath!

Church News and Announcements

God has a plan for everyone and everything. That includes you, and it includes the Alpharetta Seventh-day Adventist Church. We believe that stories are being shaped through our church. That is why we set out to raise $185,000 to build a pavilion where our friends, family, and neighbors can come to hear the Gospel and learn to embrace God’s better story for their lives. To date we have raised over $100,000!

This pavilion will serve as a critical part of our overall campus, allowing our youth to have outside summer gatherings, our vespers to be sheltered from the sun and rain, and so much more. You can see what the pavilion will look like by going to

We can’t pull this off without your support. Whether you give to our church on a regular basis, or just attend on occasion, we’re asking you to prayerfully consider contributing to this undertaking. It’s something we need our entire church community’s help with. Even if you can’t make a large gift, know that every little bit helps. It’s more about coming together as a community, united behind the common cause of sharing the story of Jesus. We hope that you’ll consider making a donation towards this great step forward in proclaiming the gospel.

You can give online at our website through AdventistGiving, or mark it on your tithe envelopes.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. – Psalm 27:5
