Medicaid Unwinding Begins April 1

For the first time in three years, Medicaid participants will have to go through the process of re-enrolling and determining eligibility. Throughout the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, Medicaid was operating under a continuous coverage requirement - but that ends tomorrow, April 1, 2023. Families enrolled in Medicaid will need to make sure that their contact information is updated in order to know when it's time for them to renew. To learn more, check out this press release from the Department of Human Services or revisit our blog on the subject from last month.

AFC Attends Allegheny County Legislative Forum on Education

On March 23, Allies staff members attends the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's annual Allegheny County Legislative Forum on Education.
This year's forum featured Rep. Dan Miller, Rep. Abigal Salisbury, Rep. Robert Mercuri, Sen. Lindsey Williams, Rep. Arvind Venkat, and Sen. Jay Costa. The legislators spend the evening answering questions that had been submitted by attendants on subjects such as: the recent decision finding PA's school funding system unconstitutional, staffing shortages, safety in schools, and what they think might be accomplished during this legislative session. As always, AFC will look forward to seeing what our legislators push for to support our children in Allegheny County. Watch highlights from the forum here.

March is National Social Work Month
