Dear IMIrJ Wash Co. friends,

The end of 2019 offers several opportunities for us to gather, learn and act together in love. We’d like to invite you to three events in Washington County, the first of which is a very special invitation from our friends at the Sikh Center:

Celebration of Guru Nanak Dev ji's 550th Birthday: The Sikh Center of Oregon has extended a special invitation to the full IMIrJ community to an open house at the Gurdwara in Beaverton on Saturday, November 16th at 10:30a in celebration of Guru Nanak Dev ji’s birthday. “Guru Nanak Dev ji established Sikhism as a way of life to attain universal consciousness. Our open house is an effort to share our faith practices which are grounded in the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji - the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikhism.”

See the flyer below for more details on this special celebration, and RSVP at the Facebook link here:

Sanctuary Everywhere - Washington Co. Vigil: In our continued efforts to keep ICE Out of Oregon we’re holding a vigil in love and support for those impacted by ICE’s predatory practices in Washington Co. and throughout the state. This is not just an expression of solidarity with our immigrant and refugee communities, this is also an expression of love and support for our neighbors, friends, and family members. The vigil will be held on Monday, November 18th at 9:00am. More information can be found here.

Quarterly Gathering: Save the date for our Wash Co. Quarterly Gathering, which will be held on Monday, December 2nd from 6:30-8:30pm at Community of ChristChurch in Hillsboro. During the gathering we’ll:

  • Celebrate our recent UTCR victory against ICE
  • Look ahead to 2020, exploring how we can put our faith into action in the public sphere for Oregon's short legislative session in February, and counter white nationalism in an election year
  • Build our interfaith community during the holiday season

You can RSVP for the event here:

We’re looking forward to seeing each and every one of you this holiday season.

In Solidarity,

Alaide, Danielle, Abby, Raquel, Ron, & Sarah
