UPLINK: WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM
OCEAN SOLUTION SPRINT

World Ocean Observatory's SEAFOOD COMMONS initiative was recently chosen as a semi-finalist for the World Economic Forum Uplink Ocean Innovation Solution Sprint. UpLink is a digital platform to crowdsource innovations in order to accelerate the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). While Seafood Commons was not chosen as a finalist, we are honored to have been included in the sprint competition and wish to congratulate finalists Oceanium, Unseenlabs and Cubex Global for their innovative projects toward a more sustainable future. Seafood Commons is a state-of-the-art whole chain seafood traceability network designed to replace traceability systems currently used in the seafood industry at a fraction of the cost, leading to food security, fisheries protections, and greater public awareness.

WORLD OCEAN FORUM
SOLUTIONS WITHIN REACH

This month's contribution to the Solutions within Reach initiative comes to us from Paul Baisich, offering a lesson on the original Civilian Conservation Corps and how a retooled jobs program could frame a sustainable future. With Solutions within Reach we are looking to what comes next: new technologies and sustainable solutions for the future. We are engaging thinkers, scientists, decision-makers, activists and global citizens to think about who, what and how we want to be on the other side of the covid-19 crisis.

INTERNATIONAL MARITIME FILM FESTIVAL IS GOING DIGITAL IN 2020
The W2O is pleased to continue a partnership with the IMFF this year to bring the maritime film festival online. We are in the process of reviewing films, and the panel of judges will announce finalists in early August. We have emerging relationships with the International Council of Maritime Museums and the Council of American Maritime Museums to package winners into a traveling digital show to give life to the films beyond the online Festival. Stay tuned for details.
