Dear Executive Directors,
Hello. I hope you and your staffs are well.
Throughout 2021, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) will use GrantEase, our new grants management system, to administer and process applications for the Pro Bono Innovation Fund (PBIF), Technology Initiative Grants (TIG), Disaster Emergency Relief Grants (DREG), in addition to the Loan Repayment and Assistance Program (LRAP). By centralizing all of these processes into a single system, we hope to streamline and simplify the grant application and administration processes for grantees and LSC.
There are two big changes related to PBIF, TIG, and DREG (but not LRAP) that we want to flag for you.
- Indirect Costs: LSC Special Grant applicants may request and be awarded indirect costs to support the Special Grant project. Grantees will be expected to follow their allocation policies to determine indirect costs. LSC will provide additional guidance later this month.
- Payment Requests: LSC’s Special Grant awardees will be required to seek reimbursement for expenses incurred in completing milestones. The payment requests will be initiated by the grantee within GrantEase along with a milestone report. LSC will provide training and additional guidance on changing from a fixed payment schedule to a reimbursement schedule.
The chart below provides the 2021 deadlines for LSC Special Grant programs and LRAP:
Prior to the rollout of each grant program, LSC will provide training, materials, and resources to help grantees navigate through GrantEase. The Special Grant teams will also be conducting webinars as we get closer to rolling out each grant program in our new system. To that end, you will soon be receiving information on the Pro Bono Innovation Fund grant cycle.
We look forward to providing additional detail about these changes in next few weeks and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to implement GrantEase. If you have any questions, please reach out to Program Analyst Jack Morris at firstname.lastname@example.org for PBIF or Disaster or to Eric Mathison at email@example.com for TIG and LRAP.
