Hot Meal Drive Through

June 26

This is the LAST hot meal drive-thru event with the Sikh community on behalf of the Khalsa Care Foundation.

Since early April, they've been serving thousands of hot meals every week. So grateful for the generosity of the Sikh community and the countless volunteers.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy a delicious vegetarian meal through the drive-thru or pick up. Service runs from 12 pm – 1 pm at the Khalsa Care Foundation (9989 Laurel Canyon Blvd, Pacoima, CA 91331). This is the largest hot meals service of its kind in the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

All fireworks are illegal

Fireworks Have Consequences.

Fireworks kill on average 40 people per year. More than 3,000 people are hospitalized.
More than half of those victims are children.

There are many other reasons to avoid the personal use of fireworks, including:

  • Our patriotic veterans may have bad combat-related flashbacks
  • Our pets will be terrified, and many run away, often never being reunited with their families
  • Older adults will be frightened and not know how to “turn the noise off”
  • Babies and small children will be terrified and the noise will hurt their ears
  • 1,300 homes burn as a result of fireworks (annual average)
  • 300 vehicles burn as a result of fireworks (annual average)

Turn in your fireworks

You may turn in your fireworks to any Los Angeles City Fire Department station without penalty.

Census 2020

Mission Hills, take the census now!

Why is being counted important?

The results of this once-a-decade count determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives. They are also used to draw congressional and state legislative districts.

Over the next decade, lawmakers, business owners, and many others will use 2020 Census data to make critical decisions. The results will show where communities need new schools, new clinics, new roads, and more services for families, older adults, and children.
