Safer at Parks: Alternative Learning Center


LA City Parks is offering safe structured learning centers and after school programs for elementary and middle school students at sixty recreation centers across the City.  Enroll your child in affordable safe structured environments which include supervised learning spaces, free internet access, recreational activities, and more.  All learning centers follow guidance from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

This program has come to Ritchie Valens Recreation Center. Sign up now as space is limited!

Financial Counseling & Education

Neighborhood Housing Services of LA County helps low and moderate income families with mortgage counseling and financial literacy education. If you are interested in seeking help, you can find the NHS class list and contact them for financial counseling at or by telephone at (213) 381-2862.

NHS works to place families on the path to financial stability, teach important financial skills, and counsel underserved individuals towards their goals. By enhancing the financial knowledge and skills of families, NHS stabilizes diverse communities and helps families and individuals begin to work towards long-term financial prosperity.

The Financial Education and Counseling program consists of a series of classes, clinics, workshops and one-on-one counseling sessions specifically designed to provide families with the resources and tools required for them to become and remain informed homeowners. NHS Financial Education and Counseling provides information on the entire process of homeownership including:

  • Assessing Readiness to Buy
  • Managing Your Money
  • Understanding Credit
  • Obtaining a Mortgage Loan
  • Shopping for A Home
  • Protecting Your Investment

All sessions are offered in English and Spanish.
