Hi member,

Welcome to the latest update for 2014 of the Women in Forest and Timber Network.

This year plans to be even bigger than last year with the network continuing to grow.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is fast approaching with this year’s theme – Inspiring Change. The theme encourages support for women's advancements everywhere in every way. Challenging the status quo for women's equality and inspiring positive change is what it’s all about and, with each year, hundreds of events are held across the country so make sure you are involved.

Kind regards,

Michelle Ingley-Smith

WFTN Coordinator

Innovation in Leadership – the role of women in Canberra next week

We are kicking off the year with another national forum called Innovation in Leadership – the role of women which is coinciding with the 6th Industry Development Conference in Canberra on 3 March.

This forum has an impressive line-up of key note speakers, including industry women at the head of their industry organisations including;

  • Alison Carmichael CEO of the Institute of Foresters Association
  • Therese Lonergan President of the Forest Industry Council
  • Helen Murray National Coordinator of Timber Communities Australia

We were also lucky to secure Alison Aggarwal, Principal Adviser of the Sex Discrimination Team, Australian Human Rights Commission.

This event will be emceed by Jane Calvert Chair of the Women in Forests and Timber Network’s National Advisory Group.

The network is for all women who feel connected with the industry and the forum has huge networking capabilities so we look forward to seeing you there.
