Daniel Fast Day 6 | Sun, Jan 27, 2019 Pastoral Musings from Bishop Gates
FOCUS SCRIPTURE: 2 Corinthians 2:14 NRSV
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him.
Well, if you’re reading this today, it most likely means that together with your fellow parishioners in Detroit and Indianapolis, we’ve reached the final hours of our weeklong denial. I trust that the journey has been a good, even if challenging, experience for you. I’m also hopeful that you’ve found my few musings to be encouraging, if not also informative. As we leave this week of consecration, I pray that your mindset is that of the apostle Paul’s who took a positive view on life in spite of trying circumstances, being misunderstood, experiencing constant hostilities and demonic inspired oppositions. He was of the mind that God did and would always lead him to ultimate victory. Note the words of the focus scripture: triumphal procession. Upon spending time this week in the face of God, expect the great in tandem with ultimate victory! May the prayer of the apostle Paul’s be ours in fulfillment: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine (Eph. 3:20 NRSV).
