We are continuing to worship in person during the Eastertide!

A few instructions to make the transition to in-person worship easier:
  • You must enter the church only through the red front doors and check in with the usher.  You may not enter the church buildings through Irvine Row or the Courtyard door (both of these doors are locked).
  • Masks must be worn throughout the service.
  • Have your temperature taken by the usher.
  • Find a seat at one of the post it notes.  You must maintain the 6 ft distance from the other parties around you.
  • Exit the church the church once the service ends because the sextons must sanitize.  You are welcome to talk in courtyard following social distancing protocols.
  • The nursery is now open! Our two caretakers are following all daycare protocols. Children 6 months- 3 years old are welcome!  Children's Chapel is also continuing this week.
If you are not comfortable gathering, or are not feeling well, please watch the livestream at 8am or 9:30am.  There will be a recording posted later so you may watch at 8 or 9:30 am. An email will go out on Saturday evening with a link for the services and the bulletins.
Fellowship invites you to come to the courtyard for Lemonade on the Lawn following the 9:30 liturgy. This is a wonderful way to safely reconnect with others outdoors. In the future, we will be asking for people to sign up to host Lemonade on the Lawn. Details will be forthcoming.
St. John's is saying Goodbye to the Seller's!

Charles and Jane Seller are moving to State College to be closer to family. We will be saying good-bye to them on May 16th at the 9:30 service. We will miss them greatly. If you would like to drop them a note or card, you may also leave a card in the church mailbox on Irvine Row.
We still have 22 spots available at the 8:00 a.m. service and the 9:30 a.m. service is full. You can sign up here:
Max Jacobs

Guest Violinist This Coming Sunday

Max Jacobs began learning the violin at the Peabody Preparatory at five years old with Elisabeth Faidley and later, with Louise Hildreth-Grasso. At 13 he began studying with Cameron Raecke and played with the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra until coming to Dickinson College and studying with Prof. Blanka Bednarz. Max attended Young Artists Beethoven Festival in Utah, performed Sinfonietta Polonia in a series of New Year Concerts 2018-2020, among them at venues such as A. Mickiewicz University Hall in Poznan, Poland as well as in ballets Alice in Wonderland and Snow Queen at the prestigious Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Poland. In summer 2019 he performed as a soloist with the Vidin Sinfonietta at the International Musicians Academy in Vidin, Bulgaria. He has played in masterclasses with Simon Gollo, Irina Muresanu, and the Newberry Consort.

Please look in the courtyard and see what has happened!

Over the last few weeks Josh Edgington and his friend Josh have been volunteering their time to help bring back the courtyard and landscape.  A year's worth of construction had taken a toll.  Josh has helped the lawn to recover, weeded and mulched flower beds around the entire church, and brought up the four memorial self watering planters from the basement.  Josh also donated the flowers for the planters and new hanging baskets to help finish the project! Gail Knisely donated a new hanging basket holder seen below.

Please thank Josh the next time you see him!

Many thanks to Patti Shufflebarger, Debbie Kendrick, and Elaine Laird who have been coming in to help with tasks/projects in the office.  They have proved invaluable during the last 13 months when we did not have any volunteer help in the office. We are now looking to recruit up to nine volunteers to help re-staff on a weekly basis.  If you have volunteered in the past and would like to return, you are more than welcome to have your original time slot!

We are looking for people to help answer phones, return calls, handle small projects, file paperwork, proofread communications, provide lunch coverage, and gather information from the congregation.

Please contact Larry Alexander in the office if you would like to return to this volunteer ministry or inquire about volunteering for the first time.

St. Barnabas Gathering will be on May 23rd at 4pm in the Parish Hall.

The Pastoral Care Team is interested in exploring some small group development after the traumatic year many of us have experienced.  If you feel alone and would like to find a way to connect with other folks from St. John's in a meaningful way, please contact Mother Melissa at We will gather in a safe way to discuss the possibilities of creating one or more groups based on our needs and interests. As you may recall, we created a group on Zoom that met during the quarantine to support one another.
WE ARE FILLING UP! We look forward to connecting with families with kids of all ages!
