"Hear ye, hear ye!"

On Sunday, May 26th, we will have

a special forum, our last for the

season.

Did you know that St. John's is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which is the third largest Christian denomination in the world with 85 million members?  Did you know that the Episcopal Church in Sudan has more members than the Episcopal Church in the entire United States? Did you know that at St. John's we have parishioners from Ghana, Liberia, England, Uganda, Nigeria and Canada?  On June 2, we are asking all those who hail from different parts of the Communion to share particular prayers from their traditions so we can honor and celebrate the depth and breadth of our faith.  Please call or email Mother Melissa, or speak with her after church, to help plan Anglican Communion Sunday.

Would You Be Interested in Volunteering in the Office?
For the Summer months we could use extra volunteers to help cover vacations.  Monday mornings, Monday afternoons, Tuesday mornings, and Wednesday mornings are where we need the help.  You would primarily be answering the phone and the door.  Please let Larry in the office know if you might like to help with this ministry.  There is a sign up calendar on the office door.

Vacation Bible School is Coming!

We are less than 2 months away from Vacation Bible  School! Please register with Aimee if you are interested in joining us!  VBS will run from June 3-7 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. This year we will include children from kindergarten to 5th grade. Older youth can register to help! We are also looking for adult volunteers to help the week of VBS. If you are interested in volunteering to help decorate, set up or work the week (even if it is just 2 days), we would love to have you! Please contact  Aimee if you are interested in helping!

Save the VBS Dates:

Wednesday, May 22, 6 pm: Volunteer Meeting
May 31 and June 1:  VBS Decorations days (Times TBD)

Raise the Roof Campaign

Due to the number of leaks and after a professional evaluation, we have determined that we need to replace all of our roofing in the near future to avoid continued maintenance and damage to the structure. TODAY, May 19th, Mike Gwozdecki, who is chairing our Raise the Roof campaign, will be explaining why, when, and how we plan to replace our roof.  We hope many of you will be able to come to the presentation at 9am in the Parish Hall between the early and late services. This is a wonderful opportunity to give to our historic building and preserve it in faith for generations to come.

SPOTLIGHT ON:
Sarah Rice

Sarah is a junior at Mechanicsburg Area Senior High. She plays the viola and plays soccer for MASH and Fusion FC. She is a member of NHS and very involved with planning year round fundraising activities and events to support The Cheery Center in Nairobi Kenya through the Model UN. Sarah has been a member of St John’s for 3 years, is an acolyte, helps out in the nursery and VBS.

Anglican Prayer Group

St. John’s Anglican Prayer Group meets each Tuesday in the Chapel, between 10 and 11:00am, all year long.  Please come and join as we intercede for both members of St. John’s and anyone in need of our prayers.  Contact Deacon Ann Whitesel if you would like to learn more about this ministry.
