Youth Group Donates Money to Honor First Responders

The Youth Investment Club of St John’s Episcopal Church on the Square will donate $2,000 to honor first responders for their service during the pandemic.  The investment club studies how to invest in the stock market and every summer donates their profits to local charities.  This year the club voted to donate $2,000 of their estimated $5,000 to honor local first responders.  On 22 May the club will sponsor a catered dinner at the Cumberland-Goodwill ambulance service on South Hanover for all in the members of the ambulance company.  Additionally as a thank you, each responder will receive $30 apiece in the form of Downtown Carlisle Association “LoveBucks” to support local downtown businesses.  It’s a win-win situation, honor the first responders and support local businesses.

We are looking for people to help answer phones and buzz people in and out of the church and provide lunch coverage in office!

Please contact Larry Alexander in the office if you would like to return to this volunteer ministry or inquire about volunteering for the first time.

Urgent Need for Blood Donations

John Newbold (The Count Dracula of St. John's) our own blood drive coordinator let us know that there is a critical need for blood donations in our area.  St. John's has been a regular blood drive host for many years.  With Covid-19 we have not been able to host a donation drive.  We hope to host one in the near future..  Please check, many of the donation restrictions have been lifted. Mad Cow restrictions have changed for some donors. You can call or check the website below.

A+, O+, and O-  are the ones in lowest supply.
