Happy New Year 2016!

Extended Stay in the USA. 2 weeks before Christmas, we got the shocking news that my dad has Stage 4 Kidney Cancer. Since then, our family has been on a roller coaster of doctors appt, treatment options, the beginning of chemo and radiation, and talks of removing one of his kidneys, etc. My sending church has recommended I stay through the month of January and then evaluate the situation at that time. I have submitted to the Mission Leadership Team of Grace and will trust God to use them to help guide me through this uncertain time with my dad's cancer. I will keep you updated during this process. To be here with my family during this time is a gift and I am truly thankful.

This is my dad, Bill. I know my family and I would appreciate your prayers as we navigate what is ahead.

 We are so excited for what 2016 will bring!  We have begun discipleship with college-age students in our local church. This is under the leadership of our national pastor and in partnership with two leaders in our church, who have become two of our closest friends. We call this group of youth AliveTZ (Alive coming from Rom.14:8).  God is igniting a passion in them to share the gospel and make disciples in their own country! (by the way, this is our dream come true!)  We have a group of 15 students, who are active and faithful in their local church, who we are training and discipling, and will join us on 5 missions trips into the villages this year.  We will be working with our AliveTZ group to do 2-3 day missions trips (evangelism, kids camps, training national pastors, and community events showing the Jesus film) in efforts to equip and strengthen local indigenous churches.  Aaron and our colleague will arrive days ahead of the team to hold training seminars for local pastors.  You can adopt one of our villages!  Each village trip costs only $2,000 for the entire crew of 15 AliveTZ students, plus leadership, including transportation, food, equipment, and training and discipleship material for national pastors.  Please contact us to adopt a village! Here are the 5 villages for 2016:

Madizini :: Swaswa :: Kwedigole ::
Holili :: Bariadi

Mbezi Chapel Pre School
Last Monday, the school that our church started, opened it's doors for year 2. For any of you who have started a school, you know how difficult year 1 is, but year 2 is even more crucial. The goal of this school is to be an outreach to our community, so far it has been that. We have worked very hard to keep the price low and the quality of education high, which allows us to help those in our immediate neighborhood. The people of our church have been so supportive, for example, they built a brand new classroom and often members will drop by the school to encourage our students or take some time to play with the students on the playground.

As we opened the doors of our school, I've been communicating with our teachers. We're facing some challenges for year 2. The biggest challenge is that we have no transportation to get the kids to and from the school.This has caused almost 1/2 of our students to not be able to return. If you would like to be a part of helping our school to purchase a van that would be our "school bus", please let me know. The cost of a gently used van is approx. $7000. The school is in need of some other practical items, a computer ($250) and a photo copy machine ($300). Please let me know if you would be interested in helping the school to purchase any of these items.
Many blessings to you and your family as we begin 2016. I am thankful for each of you and your support. I feel grateful to have such a wonderful, caring support team. You are never far from my thoughts and I thank God for you daily.
Much love, Shantelle
