This year we celebrate our 5th birthday...we have so much to be thankful for and so much to look forward to!
Jesus...directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Matthew 14 v 19-21 (NIV)

More than we can imagine

We serve a God who can give us so much more than we can ever imagine. Like the 5 loaves and 2 fish, he can take the little we bring and multiply it to bring blessing to thousands. We can so often find that when we give our all it is not enough to meet the need. When God is involved though, he can mulitpy what there is to make it more than enough with some beng left over! God knows the needs of each and every person and he is more than able to supply them.

Like Jesus, we need to look up to heaven, to be thankful and then to act in faith. If we live in this way, we will see God's provision for the lost, the hungry and the broken around us.

Five years of blessing

This year, Dignity reaches a milestone. We will be 5 years old!

As we look back over the last 5 years we can see so many ways in which God has multiplied the little we have brought and given to him. We can see his blessing upon the work he has given us to do and the way he has gone before us to open doors and lay foundations. We look back with great thanks for all he has done so far and the lives he has changed.

We also look forward with excitement. What has God got planned for the next five years? How will he continue to work out his salvation in the lives of those we meet and in our own lives?

The next steps

So this year, we want to celebrate all that God has done for us. We will be doing this throughout the year in a number of ways, including a special birthday celebration which you are all invited to! Look out for details later in the year.

We will also be working hard as our aim for this year and next is to plant the work we are doing in 5 new areas across Zambia and it's neighbouring countries. This year we are seeking to establish relationships and create openings, planting seeds that next year will be able to blossom into many more Life! groups meeting in villages, bringing God's hope and change to individual lives and whole communities. We believe this is God's calling for us right now.

A big THANK YOU!

As we step forward in faith, we also want to say "thank you" to you for standing with us in prayer. We really do appreciate and value your support in this way - we believe prayer is vital. Please do keep praying...here are a few things to focus on this month.

There are currently 2 Impact Teams and 108 Life! groups, all taking place in the 2 green areas. That means somewhere between 1500 and 2000 people being given regular opportunities to learn more and understand the good news of Jesus. In turn, as their faith grows, so their actions grow and individuals lives, villages and communities are being changed! Over the next 2 years we want to expand to the blue areas...pray for God to be calling people in these areas and for him to open doors to us.
As part of establishing groups in these areas, we are working towards sending out a number of short term teams from the UK to work alongside our Zambian Impact Teams in October this year. Please pray that the right volunteers will come forward to get involved. Pray about whether you should be one of those volunteers or whether your church is able to send a team of 3 or 4 people. Pray that God will be at work in the lives of each volunteer he is calling, preparing them for the work he has for them to do.
As our work grows, so too our commitments grow. We need more copies of the books we use, we need to cover more miles, we need to run more training events, we need to support more Impact Teams as they give up some of their time to follow God's calling on their lives. Please ask God to continue his faithful and timely provision of people, resources and finances. Pray for us to be imaginitive and inventive in the way we use the resources he gives us.

Get involved

There are lots of exciting plans afoot this year as we celebrate. Look out for the latest events as we announce them and why not get involved....keep praying, invite us to speak at your church, raise some money to support Dignity's work (see below for some ideas) or even join us on a short term mission in October. We are more than happy to answer any questions or support you in any way we can so please feel free to get in touch, either by replying to this email, or calling us on 0161 434 8841. Thank you!
