Save The Date: AGM

Our AGM is scheduled for Thursday May 4th @ 5 pm. Both members and non-members are welcome to attend the event which will include ideas and demos focused on this year's theme of "Self Care". As always, we'll have some tasty refreshments on hand and resources to share with caregivers to support their wellness.

Please note that you do need to be a valid membership (through the date of the AGM) to vote on association matters during the meeting. Memberships need to be renewed annually. Not sure if you are a current member? Contact us today to confirm or sign up online.

Family Caregiver Week
is May 1-7

This year's theme is "Self-Care". After all, you can't give to others if you have nothing left to give. So while we're recognizing and celebrating the awesome-ness that is the family caregiver (that means friends, too) we'd like to share a variety of ways to care for yourself.  More info coming soon....

Programming

The next few months are ramping up programming: Looking for groups near you? Use our support finder to view programs and supports in your area.
Navigator is a one day workshop that trains healthcare professionals, service providers and community agency staff to better support caregivers by showing them how to:
1) identify caregivers early in their journey
2) support caregivers to adopt self care practices
3) facilitate caregivers' access to programs/resources & referrals
Thanks to the generous support of Age Friendly Edmonton, our spring series of workshops are offered FREE of charge.  Registrations are still being accepted for March 8, April 5 & May 12. Learn more & register here.

Tax Season: Rebates for Family Caregivers?

One of the most common questions we hear is "can I be paid to provide care to my family member?". The short answer is no. However, there may be rebates and claims that can be made to benefit you, as a caregiver and/or impact the person you care for financially. Check out:

Don't forget to check out those credits that your care recipients might be able to claim, too.

Caregiver Support Project Update

Our province-wide initiative to build & enhance capacity for caregiver resources and programs is coming to a close with the final bit of funding used to support communities in and around Slave Lake, Lloydminster, Westlock/ Barrhead & Peace River. Thanks to the generous support of the Government of Alberta, we've worked with over 240 communities over the past 4 years!

Founded in 2001 as a non profit charity, Caregivers Alberta has helped tens of thousands of families across Alberta care for their loved ones while ensuring they care for themselves, too. To ensure we provide accessible services to all caregivers in Alberta, we rely on the generous support of our donors - please consider making a gift to help others in their caregiving journey.
