Being a caregiver affects your relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and even neighbours. While three in four caregivers say that caregiving has strengthened the relationship with the person receiving care, often this role can strain other relationships or leave caregivers feeling alone and isolated. This month come work on building stronger communication and maintain healthier conversations.

Communication is key when building healthy relationships, but some caregiving conversations can be hard to navigate.

Check out this article from Family Caregivers of British Columbia for some resources and tips to help you enhance your communication skills. And as the article notes, it's important to remember that you have a right to express your own wants, needs, feelings and ideas as well!
The Caregiver Support Community is a place where you can connect with other caregivers and have open conversations about the ups and downs of caregiving.

Our next group is on Thursday, February 20th from 6:00PM to 7:30PM at the Jerry Forbes Centre. To register for this or any of our other caregiver support groups visit the link below!
With Valentine's Day right around the corner it's important to remember that you deserve love too! As caregivers we often put ourselves last, but it's crucial that we take time to nurture our own well-being and give ourselves the same grace we give to others.

“Self-love begins when we observe our actions and words with compassion as if we were our own best friend."
— Sara M Bosworth

This month take some time to practice self-love as a reminder of your own worth and remember to try to treat yourself the way you would treat a loved one.
8 Steps to Self-Love
We have a new Caregiver Community Facebook group! This private group is a place where caregivers from all across Alberta can connect with each other, share advice and experiences, and find support and community.
