Rooted in Community - Free Volunteer Skills Training

Rooted in Community is our free 20 hour volunteer skills and personal development training.

It is happening Wednesdays from May 10 - June 21 from 9-11:30 am.  Register by emailing

This training program is an opportunity to develop volunteer and support skills and learn about social services.  Service providers from local organizations will come in to talk about various resources available in our community.

Participants will examine their relationship to feminism, anti-oppression, self care and develop peer counselling skills.  It is also a safe place to share life experiences and connect with other women.  Upon completion you will be well qualified to volunteer in our drop-in program.

All self-identified women are encouraged to join. This is an amazing opportunity to give to yourself and your community.  Let me know if you have questions or would like to register for the program.  Please pass this along to any woman who may be interested!

Entertainers will include be Jenny Robinson, Toinya Fominoff, Joy Green and the  Ukeladies.

Sponsors include KAIROS, Nelson & District Women’s Centre, Kootenay Kids, Nelson CARES and the West Kootenay Global Awareness Network. Local schools are invited to participate.
