We would like to thank Elijah Zimmerman, Friday Drop-in Coordinator, for holding a safer space for trans/gender diverse folks in our community for the last 6 months.  He is on to other ventures and we wish him well.

We would like to welcome Axel McGowan who will be taking over the coordinator position.  Congratulations and welcome Axel.

What You are Supporting when You Support your Women’s Centre
  1. Healthy Community Connections for Women:                                                               Through using our Drop-In, volunteering, attending workshops or courses, women forge relationships, end isolation, improve mental health and life skills as well as grow in connection.
  2. Community Education on Issues of Gender Equality, Ending Violence and Building a Culture of Consent
  3. A safe gender diverse space in our Trans and Gender Diverse Drop in that happens on Fridays from 3-7pm.
  4. Community Events from International Women’s Day, Womaginarium, Take Back the Night and forums too!
  5. Resource Referral – Navigating the agencies when in need of services can be daunting.  We help women learn where to go to get the information they need to thrive.
  6. Supportive services for those living in poverty: When women live in poverty, often children do too.  Our Drop in provides free clothing and food for all women and children.
  7. Alternative Health Options: Our community of talented practicioners offers massage, cranial sacral, reiki and more in our space
  8. Peer Support/Counselling Services:  Studies show that the major determining factor in whether a stressful life event will create a traumatic response is the relationships that the person has around them.  Our peer support volunteers listen, provide empathy and attunement and help women stay present with life situations that arise.

Do you know an inspirational feminist writer, film producer, speaker?  We are seeking suggestions for festival contributors.  If you have any ideas or recommendations please email us at the email on the poster above.

Please come Tuesday June 6th from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Centre, if you would like to learn more about the Summer Festival, have ideas to contribute or would like to join the planning committee

Please Note: Donation Policy!

As summer is upon us, folks are cleaning out their homes, and generously thinking of us.

We currently accept only clean, gently used clothing during our Drop In hours Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 12-4pm.

We have had a lot of dumping recently, and unfortunately all of these dumped items need our time and money to go to the dump.  They are unusable for our women.

Please let your friends know too, as this is becomming a big expense and time comsumptive issue at this time.

Big thanks to Silver Lining consignment store, who have created an account for the Women's Centre. You can now drop off your clothing to them, and they will sell it and donate the credit to our account.  That way women who need some nicer clothing will be able to access that credit.
