This August 25-27, we are bringing back the annual women's festival!

Our festival will bring together self-identified females to share stories and celebrate what it is to be a woman.

The weekend will be filled with workshops, entertainment, pampering, yoga, presentations, discussions, and more! Camping will be available for 10$ a night, and there will be food vendors on site. Childminding will also be available.

Tickets are now on sale at Otter's Books, Mountain Baby. and the Women's Centre. Online tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/womaginarium-summer-womens-festival-tickets-35769656004

We are currently seeking volunteer first aid attendants, security attendants, pampering practitioners, musicians, and entertainers as well as general event volunteers for this event.

If you would like to know more or have any questions, please email festival@nelsonwomenscentre.com.

Summer Closure, 1 week this year

This summer, we will be closed August 15, 16, 17,  re-opening for regular Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Drop in hours (12-4 pm) on August 22.

We would love to get some projects done during this time, so if you want to volunteer your time to clean, bake some treats for the freezer, or take things to the dump, or garden, please email shannon@nelsonwomenscentre.com

Market Veggie Donations

This summer, we are so grateful to be able to pick up the market left-overs from the Wednesday markets.
This organic produce is available for women and their families to pick up for free on Thursdays during Drop in all summer long.

Please help us to show our gratitude by thanking the farmers who support this, and buying from them when you are at the market.
They have all been so generous and so sweet with their hard-work.

DONATE PATIO FURNITURE!

We are looking for donations of good quality, clean patio furniture for our outdoor space.  Women love to sit out there, and the old furniture was really not nice anymore.

If you are replacing your furniture, consider giving us your old stuff, or make a donation towards the purchase of some good second hand furniture for us!

The Girls' Empowerment Movement (GEM) program finished in Slocan on June 10th. We had fun doing art, going to the White Pines dojo to learn about self-defense, and singing with drums and rattles.   The benefits of the program were apparent in the fun had by the girls who attended, by the obvious bonding that happened between the girls from different schools, and by the increased social confidence displayed by the girls.

Watch for fall dates of the GEM program on the Women's Centre website here: http://www.nelsonwomenscentre.com/what-we-do/girls-empowerment-movement-gem/
