GFMD Granted UN Special Consultative Status

On July 24, GFMD was formally granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The status applies not just to the GFMD Secretariat, but to any and all GFMD member organisations as well. This success is the culmination of three years of concerted efforts by GFMD’s UN representative, Bill Orme, the GFMD Steering Committee, and the GFMD Secretariat in Brussels.

[Infographic] Global Progress on the Right to Information

SDG 16.10 calls on all states to adopt legislation or policies guaranteeing the right to information, which is critical to both sustainable development in general as well as achieving other SDGs. ARTICLE 19  has been monitoring progress on SDG 16.10 since the adoption of the goals in 2015. As of July 2018, at least 123 countries comprising 90% of the world’s population have a right to information law or policy. For more information, see their infographic.

SDG16 Data Initiative 2018 Global Report Now Available

The SDG16 Data Initiative (SDG16DI) has released its second annual report, which evaluates the global progress towards realizing the 2030 Agenda’s promise of peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. Established in 2017, SDG16DI is a consortium of 14 organisations dedicated to the implementation and open tracking of progress towards SDG16 targets.
