MOBILISING MEDIA DEVELOPMENT ACTORS IN SUPPORT OF SDG 16.10.2

As part of GFMD's commitment to enhancing the assessment of Right to Information (RTI) law implementation – in line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16.10.2 – we are conducting pilot projects with local partners based in Tanzania, Pakistan, and Serbia. We are organising consultations on the review process in the run up to this year's High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York.

MIF RELEASES NEW REPORT ON GLOBAL MEDIA PHILANTHROPY


The report by Media Impact Funders, titled 'Global Media Philanthropy: What Funders Need to Know About Data, Trends and Pressing Issues Facing the Field,' draws on data from media grants data mapping, results from a survey of leading organisations engaged in funding media-related projects around the world, analyses of existing literature and reports, and insights offered by experts across a range of media funding issues.

ANNUAL REPORT TO TRACK MEDIA FREEDOMS IN PAKISTAN LAUNCHED


Media Matters for Democracy has launched its annual publication to assess the challenges to media and digital freedoms during the year 2018. The report touches upon various issues including violent and regulatory actions against the media, online censorship, disinformation, and legislative developments related to cyberspace in Pakistan.

CIMA RELEASES REPORT ON MEDIA DEVELOPMENT IN WEST AFRICA


The Center for International Media Assistance (CIMA), in conjunction with the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), recently released a report titled, 'Regional Approaches to Media Development in West Africa.' Their report is the product of consultations with a range of civil society actors, media operators, experts and representatives of national media policy and regulatory bodies.

BNNRC PROJECTS RECEIVE MAJOR RECOGNITION IN WSIS CONTEST

The Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC)’s projects on Climate Justice and Right to Information have been recognised as winners of the prestigious UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Contest 2019 for the implementation of the WSIS Action Line. Congratulations!

INTERNEWS WORKSHOPS SUPPORT YOUTH MEDIA IN LIBERIA


Internews recently organised training workshops for a youth-led media initiative, Youth Media Action, which has embarked on a campaign aimed at electoral reform in Liberia. The training was aimed at bolstering staff capacity at Youth Media Action on electoral reform issues and development in order to enhance their activities in the various high schools in Monrovia and its environs.
