Drawing on the input of more than 50 Syrian professionals and international media development organizations, the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD) releases a comprehensive set of recommendations for donors, implementers, and Syrian media, summarized in the paper.


SEAPA has new Executive Director:

The Board of Trustees of the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) has selected Mr. Edgardo P. Legaspi as its new executive director. He will lead and manage the operations of the Bangkok-based Secretariat, which coordinates the regional activities of the member organizations of SEAPA, starting 1 July 2015.

Bringing Plurality & Balance to Russian Language Media - Final Recommendations

Russia is inside Europe”, Anne Applebaum, Pulitzer prize winning journalist, author and Eastern Europe expert, warned the audience of government representatives listening to the final EED report on Russian language media. In Germany alone, she added, 3-4 million Russians are watching the Kremlin-aligned Pervyi Kanal TV. The aggressive language from Russia is “stronger than ever since the end of the cold war, and sometimes even more than during it.”
