Thank you for your support of Friends of Bonobos
Friends of Bonobos

Dear friends, colleagues and sponsors,

We would like to share with you the good news that the three trackers who were
wounded at the EKOLO release site in early August are now out of the hospital. Jim left
the clinic in early September; David and Victor were released last week. All three are
recovering at the LOLA YA BONOBO sanctuary.

Meanwhile at EKOLO, food provisioning has been resumed so that the bonobos can be
observed daily. A meeting with all stakeholders from the Ministry of Environment and
other environmental actors in the Maringa-Lopori-Wamba Landscape is planned for the end of the month to evaluate options and next steps.

(On August 3, 2011, the three trackers had been bitten by the released bonobos,
resulting in severe injuries. They were hospitalised at the Medical Centre of Kinshasa.)

We are working to provide reconstructive facial surgery for Victor and David. A
specialised surgeon in France has very generously offered his services.

Sincerely,

Dominique Morel
President
