Concrete Canvas (CC) is a flexible cement impregnated fabric that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable water proof and fire-resistant concrete layer.  Essentially, it’s concrete on a roll. Although originally designed for the construction industry it has huge potential for use in design-led projects, and is increasingly being used by the Design community in innovative new ways to create sculptures, furniture and art installations, many of which have been featured by publications and exhibitions around the world.

Two such projects can be seen below. Sam Jennings used CC to experiment with new styles of furniture, wondering if an alternative material with contrasting qualities to those traditionally used in furniture would still allow it to function in the same way. Graulicht used CC to devise, design and construct furniture for the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Both examples are great demonstrations of the flexibility of Concrete Canvas in creative projects.
