Sonoma, school...and swine!

Hi <<First Name>>!

Can't you just feel the end of the school year in the air? People are getting ready for summer vacation; kids are excited about the next grade or a new school. Speaking of school, I wanted to tell you what Sonoma has been doing in a local school over the past several months.

Our neighborhood school, Brent Elementary, adopted Sonoma's Executive Chef, Michael E. Bonk, as part of the "Chef's Move to School" program. Chef partnered with the school to create healthy meals and teach the kids about nutrition. He taught classes on healthy eating for students at Brent and at Sonoma.

Chef Bonk enjoyed his time so much that he decided to do something special for the students and the community at the end of the school year. He is throwing a pig roast on the Brent Elementary playground on June 5th, from 1-6:30pm. Chef Bonk will fire up his smoker and cook the pig starting in the wee hours of the morning that day.  We will also serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and plenty of sides.

Parents at Brent planned many fun kid-friendly activities, such as face painting, water balloons, balloon animals, games, and more. To top off the festivities, we will have a live bluegrass music playing all afternoon long.

Whether you are a Capitol Hill neighbor, a Sonoma regular, or just a pure pork enthusiast, we'd love to extend to you the invitation to bring your friends and family to the pig roast. Tickets are $35 for adults and include beer and wine, while kids eat for $10. You can buy your tickets at www.sononomajune5.eventbrite.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you there!

A farm dinner with the "goat guru"

Sonoma is hosting our second farm dinner of the year on June 25th at 7:30pm, featuring Pipe Dreams farms. Pipe Dreams specializes in goat milk, serving some of the most sought-after goat cheese on the East coast.

Executive Chef Michael E. Bonk will create a four-course tasting menu; each course will creatively, and deliciously, incorporate goat milk.
Pipe Dreams' owner and goat cheese extraordinaire, Brad Parker, will provide Chef Bonk with many delicious items, including some special-crafted goat cheeses.  Parker will be at Sonoma during the event to chat about raising goats and creating absolutely divine milk and cheese.

The dinner is $55 per person for all four courses and an extra $25 for the wine pairings. Space is very limited, so reserve your spot soon.
