Toronto Star “Playful and flirtatious, whimsical and wry, Verch is in peak form, having reached a transcendent level of musicianship where hard-earned technique can be safely abandoned.”

September's Tour? The Northeast!
The April Verch Band has already had a summer filled with sun and foot-stompin' tunes, but the fun is far from over! September finds the AVB playing their best tunes in the Northeast and they can hardly wait to hit up some of their favourite spots. It's been an exciting year for the AVB, including a thrilling tour in China in April and a beautiful cruise to Alaska at the beginning of June, not to mention festivals and shows across North America! You can be sure April and the band will be filled with fun stories from the road. Check out the information in the right-hand column for the shows near you and always keep checking April's Tour Page as new dates are being added constantly!

New AVB album just released!
The April Verch Band is thrilled to announce the release of their brand new CD, That's How We Run! The band spent early February hidden away in the hills of Asheville, North Carolina recording their latest self-produced album that includes a dandy selection of guests, including Chris Sharp and Bob Carlin of the John Hartford String Band, old-time master musicians Rayna Gellert, Riley Baugus and Dirk Powell, and the fabulous Bobby Hicks (in both familiar and unfamiliar roles!). And while it's not a radical departure from their previous works - there are some Americana-flavored singing songs, some traditional French Canadian fiddle tunes and the requisite Ottawa Valley sing-along - it has a somewhat more pronounced old-time flavor, with some great fiddle tunes and more fine clawhammer banjo picking from Cody. You can read April’s blog about their recent studio experience here and find all kinds of ordering information here.

We make the music - they make it possible

The April Verch Band would like to thank two great sponsors who help make the music possible: D'Addario Strings and Colorado Case Company.  April plays exclusively with D’Addario Helicore strings (in heavy gauge) that are perfectly matched to her aggressive style of playing, with quick bow response (watch April play and you'll understand just what quick is!) yet render a clear warm tone with sustainability and longevity. D’Addario offers a wide variety of strings for just about any musician – please check out their website for more details.
Traveling all across the globe as they do, the AVB really appreciates the protection of a Colorado Case. They know that the engineering and expertise craftsmanship that goes into every case they produce goes a long way in making sure the instruments arrives in top shape after a long trip – even if the band doesn’t! Colorado Case is the choice for most professional traveling musicians – specializing in custom and hard to fit instruments. Please check out their website to see their product offering.
